Summary: Poorly written novelization of a movie
Review: This is a children's book. From the inferences in the book, I am sure the movie is a good thriller. I could "see" how the visual effects would be great. The problem here is that the authors did not try to fill in the background colors too well.

I find almost all the action to be unlikely. The Drej arrive just as Cale is about to be picked up after 15 years. Akima is kicked out the airlock in a pod that allows her to live so the slavers can get her. The slavers who are heavily armed and have an incentive to keep their property, allow the team to break in and steal her away. And on and on. This is an action film, but the book does not adequately show the special effects. An action flick does not have to spawn a great masterpiece of literature, but the authors could have at least filled in more of the reasons why the people are doing what they are doing without the same jerkiness you get in an action film.

I have not seen the movie. People who have say it is great. See the movie. Skip this book unless you are a child.

Summary: I just couldn't wait for the movie, I read it in 4 days!
Review: This is a really good adaption to the movie coming out in June (at least comparing what I read to all the trailers and teasers I've seen for it), although the descriptions of characters are a little shakey and hard to match with the characters shown in the previews, unless you already know all their names. I would recommend this to anyone, except for younger kids I would tell you wait for the Junior Novelization. The language that the author uses, and even some of the characters' actually dialogue, tends to get a little rough.

Summary: Fair Novelization
Review: Titan A.E. is an imaginative story, and from the various websites, the movie looks like it will be a blast. However, the novelization doesn't expand on the story. It should have been written better. It makes me want to see the movie though. Maybe that was the idea.

Summary: An easy entertaining read for Sci-Fi fans.
Review: Titan AE is a decent book, but written in the style of teenage fiction with adult themes. It is a fast read (3-5 hours max for avid readers), entertaining and action-packed. My only complaints are:

1. Weak premise explaining the hostility of the Drej toward humanity (which is supposed to be a major plot line). 2. Slightly immature narrative tone throughout. 3. The epilogue, which is totally juvenile and somewhat insulting to the reader's intelligence.

As seems to be common with recent Sci-Fi novels, movies, etc., Titan AE takes you on a wild ride, but doesn't really figure out where it is supposed to end up. I recommend it as an easy, entertaining bedtime story.
