Summary: There still to long to wait
Review: Any Wheel of Time material is very welcome and this prologue is no exception. Although the POVs are from the minor characters there is more than enough new information and plot developments to justify buying this. I mean come on it hardly costs the earth and the actual book is still months away, are you going to tell me that you are actually that stingy, well are you?

Summary: I don't want to wait any more...how many days 'till CoT?
Review: Even before reading Glimmers, I could hardly wait for the release of Crossroads of Twilight...and this has made it even worse! As always, Jordan's writing is excellent, and this certainly promises a lot for CoT. I think we're finally going to see some of the events we've been waiting for (battle for the White Tower, for one). Glimmers is a must read for any true WoT-fan, for if you are one, somewhere deep inside you know you can't wait untill november...;)

Summary: Junk food for the hungry mind
Review: Glimmers was easy enough to download and read. It gave snapshots of different inconsequential characters' lives at the moment of the end of the last book, Winter's Heart. The snapshots were too short to have anything really happen during them, but one does acquire a feeling for the setting of the situation. I guess for me it was just neat to immerse myself in that fantasy world once again. The writing was fine, the characters believable. My biggest gripe was that it sort of went nowhere, but I guess that was the author's intention this time.
My recommendation would be that you could buy this or skip it altogether and be none the worse for it. If you think it's worth it to read a couple hundred pages of sheer setting and little actual plot development, then this might just be the candy bar you wanted to satisfy your hungry mind. Keep in mind though, that like all such junk food, it will leave you ravenous again in an hour or two.

Summary: Digital distribution is great, but this misses the mark
Review: I am a fan of Robert Jordan in general and the Wheel of Time series in particular. I am also very supportive of the idea of digital distribution of literature. I liked almost everything about this work: the writing and story, the price, the convenience of downloading it digitally instead of waiting for a physical product to come via UPS. The one thing that I *REALLY* disliked was the fact that this e-book WASN'T PRINTABLE. I had to sit and stare at my computer the entire time in order to read it. I like to read, a lot. I probably read about 500 pages a week, and I'll tell you that my computer does NOT rank in the Top 20 places I like to sit and read. The fact that I couldn't print this e-book and curl up on my couch to read it made me seriously question whether buying this book was money well spent.

Summary: Series seems to be losing steam
Review: I bought the prologue, simply because I wanted the new material. It was okay, but I don't think it's great. None of the main characters were in the prologue, and I didn't feel as though it advanced the plot at all. It seems like RJ just released something to keep the money rolling in without really telling any of the WOT story.

Personally, I wish he'd just get on with it and finish the story. It has been dragged on long enough. At least in the interview he states that there will be only 2 more books. That was the only worthwhile thing about the prologue.

Summary: Can't wait for the rest of the book
Review: I don't know what everyone else is complaining about... Glimmers is a great introduction. It touches on various threads that have been established in the earlier books, and IMHO, it is refreshing to see things from the lesser characters POV's.

Keep up the great work RJ!!! I can't wait for January!!

Summary: Stop whinning!!
Review: I found this book a bit slow, But Jordan is once agian setting us up for a big bang!! The whole idea of this book is to have all the main chacerters catch up with each other. So many huge thigs happened and were left out of book nine, that book ten had to written in a way that everyone would be at the same point at the same time. Just remeber where Egewene is at the end of this book. And her experince of the trip though the rings of the accepted. So buck up and just enjoy the the climb to the top of the rollercoaster!!

Summary: e-books don't have to be restrictive...
Review: I just have one thing to say about the people complaining about the 'restrictions' of the e-book format: Wrong.

1. You cannot print it out. Wrong.
2. You cannot copy it to another computer. Wrong.
3. You cannot share it with a friend. See #2.

BTW, great prologue. Whets the appetite for what is to come!

Summary: WHERE's the ACTION ???? ENUFF with the little plots !!!!
Review: I love the series and thought people were crazy when they started complaining about dragging it out. HOWEVER, I too am begining to get a little miffed reading the newest book. Im halfway through it and NOTHING has happened. It all involves plots, sub-plots, little games within games. Im sick already about the intrigues and plotting of characters I've never heard or that have been mentioned once in 8 books.
Several times Jordan will go into 2-3 paragraphs to describe a room some unknown or little known person happens to be occupying. At this point, AGAIN...NOTHING has happened. It took over 100 pages just to get to one of the main characters (Mat).
I see now that Jordan is sctretching this out with elastic and putty-filler to CHA-Ching!!...cash in.
The gripping action and intrigue of the first 6 books is none-existent in this book.
He says, "this Aes Sedai might be considered a handsome woman or agelessly beautiful" OMG ENOUGH already. He's used that type of description on every woman.
How about something FRESH. Maybe, "She was a mulefaced woman, with a wonderful heart"
Im getting really tired of every woman on this planet "smoothing out her dress" or every general "never having lost a battle"

OK JORDAN. You've made enough money. FINISH IT. YOU've gotten very very stale and you CONTINUE to repeat your writing mannerisms and phrases over and over.
Im miffed because I still and will ALWAYS rate this as one of the best series I've ever read. Its just this latest book is nothing but mind games between rivals. Nothing to sink my teeth into.
MY ADVICE= Dont keep writing til you simply fade away like an aging sports star. End it now and retire from professional sports after winning the superbowl !!!!!!

Summary: I Will Never Purchase an E-Book under the Adobe Regime!
Review: I purchased an e-book for my wife for her birthday & have never in my life had such a horrible experience with any gift! We have both tried numerous times to certify this ridiculous program with the same result each and every time: the computer reboots itself the moment we click on Certify Now. As the hours that we have both spent trying to troubleshoot this problem are rapidly piling up, we've decided that there's no way we will be buying another e-book. I'm assuming that this problem is related to using Windows XP, but who can say, since the Adobe web site has not yet offered any relevant information to us.

In addition to not even working, the limitations placed on the e-books by Adobe are as ridiculous as the rest of their software: to not be able to even download the book until their software decides to work; to no longer be able to read the book if we upgrade hard drives, processors, etc.; to not be able to read the book on multiple computers unless the publisher has given permission to lend the book (we have 5 computers in the house...why should Adobe be allowed to decide that they can limit us to using one for this e-book?); to not be able to print the book unless, once again, given permission. What exactly are we paying for here besides the headache of using their awful software and searching endlessly through their troubleshooting website? When I buy a good, old-fashioned book I can read it in bed, on the couch, outside in the sunshine, on an airplane, at a friend's house...wherever I want...and I can let them read it too. I think Adobe is going for a little too much CONTROL and not enough concern for the consumer.

I, for one, will never again purchase an e-book that is affiliated with Adobe.

And of course, my review has nothing to do with Glimmers, since I have never even been allowed to download the file. Good luck to anyone else with this problem!
