Rating: Summary: This is one of the best books! Review: I love this book. The plot, setting, and characters are perfect. Mystery, magic, evil, and romance are all entwined to form the perfect story. If you have not read this book, you don't know what you are missing! I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!
Rating: Summary: The best book I've read since Anne Mc. dragon trio. Review: Intense. Never a dull moment. Don't start unless you can finish it. 5 stars not enough.
Rating: Summary: The best fantasy I have read in a LONG time! Review: Joanne Bertin is my new favorite author. Her dipiction of dragons, and magic, was excellent. The plot was good, if predictable at times, but it also had a few unexpected twists and turns. I liked her heros because they still made mistakes like normal people, and were not like gods. Her villains were extrimly vile, and were prone to mistakes themselves. The romance was okay, but I do not read these books for that part. If you like that so much go read a romance novel. This is fantasy, and it is not supposed to be like any real thing, that is the true meaning of fantasy. I read them because they are interesting, and keep the reader hooked, and wondering what will happen next.
Rating: Summary: A new spin on Dragons AND Magic. A great read. Review: I would have to say that the phrase "Never Judge a book by its cover," applies in my case when I read the book. Its not a book I would have even picked up to read the back of, due to the cover. However, a friend of mine told it was good so I decided to read it and I loved every page of it. The characters are excellent, and very realisitc. The situations are unique, and the way the author portrays Weredragons, and the types of magic is cool. I am looking forward to the next book.
Rating: Summary: A nice retreat from law school Review: I really enjoyed this book. I felt like I knew the characters and felt a great anticipation to know what would come next. I'll be reading the next book as soon as it is out!
Rating: Summary: A superb book Review: Excellent characterization, writing, action... Did not want to put it down. I love dragon, sword & sorcery & fantasy stories and this book has it all and it comes at the dragons from an entirely new angle. Plus after reading the teaser from her book due out in Nov., I'm all the more eager for it. S.W.
Rating: Summary: A great new author Review: This was a fast-paced, fun read. I didn't want to put it down and I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel. Ms.Bertin wants her readers to feel her characters' joy and pain. The world she has created is fresh and interesting. I haven't been this excited about a new author since Terry Goodkind hit the scene!
Rating: Summary: Very Good!! Review: I loved this book! I stayed up all night reading it so I could see how it ended before going to bed. I'm really looking forward to her next book comeing out in November.
Rating: Summary: A Forgettable, Soggy Romancer Review: This was an extremely sad book. Not that the events in the book was sad or such, but it made me sad because the author had taken what could be a very nice world and made it into an uninteresting, unconvincing, and all too predictable backdrop for the soggy romance between Linden and Maurynna. Linden and Maurynna's actions all seem to exist for the author's wish to make them love each other madly for no apparent reason than that they share the same blood. The character's actions were melodramatic, unrealistic, and extremely disgusting. Real characters do not act or speak the way they do in this book. The dialogue was especially hard to stomach. It reminded me of Isaac Asimov's phony dialogue. At least Isaac Asimov's books make interesting read. The villains also sucked. Their actions were unconvincing, like all the other charcters in this book. The Countess, like in all other soggy romances, kept yearning after Linden even after he kicked her. She keeps plotting to do something to the happy li'l couple. At best, this book is a third grade romance. Don't buy this book.
Rating: Summary: I loved this book! Review: I loved this book and strongly consider it as one of my personal favorite. I have read this book many many times and still find it a very suspenseful and satisfying book. The authoress is very talented and I can't wait to read another one of her books.
