Rating: Summary: A WONDERFUL story. Review: This book was truly a joy to read. I couldn't put it down, and I rushed out to buy the sequel, Dragon and Phoenix. Which was also a wonderful book. Keep them coming! I can't wait to read the next one, "A Bard's Tale"!Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: What a joy to read. Review: This was a great book! At times you might be able to second guess the auther now and again but you wanted it to happen and you're so happy to sit back and watch it happen, of. Wondederful reading, a very nice book. I really enjoyed the supense before the two main characters meet and you really can't help but like Linden. There is so much boyish charm there. Kudos to the auther for bringing us a welcome twist to the Dragon scene. I caught my self many times chuckling out loud, there was so much humor in this book and it was really a joy to read. There where no wars, so if that's what you'll looking for you might want to pass on this book, this book also had an ending which I find a plus. Too many books these days just stop, in mid paragrath it seems. This book ties up all the loose ends ends and you don't find your favorite charater has died in the last two sentences of the book either. I hope you enjoy this book as I have and look forward to the Dragon and the Phoenix as much as I do.
Rating: Summary: I'm in looove! Review: This book, "The Last DragonLord" is a dream come true to me. I have read far to many books that droned on and on about other things.Ugh! But Linden and his friends made my dreams come true. er.. make that Joanna Bertin.. heh sorry! I have already seriously read this book 5 times and STILL can't put it down! That is honestly how good it is. I am in love with the characters, the story line, the dragons, arrgh. I'm in love with the book! I am trying to gather up enough so I can get the other book "Dragon and Phoenix". I am already dying to hear what happens to them all and when will "Rynna" change again? Thanks so much Joanne!
Rating: Summary: A worthy read! Review: Escape to a magical land of Dragonlords, Truehumans, and evil Mages ... After experiencing withdrawal symptoms from having a worthwhile book to read (several months ago), this book cover caught my eye whilst browsing through the local bookstore. If you're a fan of Anne McCaffery and especially Melanie Rawn, then you'll love this book. From the first couple of chapters, I knew this was a book I would not be reading just to keep me occupied on the train or putting aside for a rainy day. The more I read, the more involved I became in the world of Linden Rathen - the last dragonlord. A man who can will himself into dragon form whenever he wishes. This is a great romantic story with great visual descriptions and likeable characters. All I have to do now is finish the last few chapters so I am free to start the sequel - Dragon and Phoenix.
Rating: Summary: Pretty good Review: Actually, and this will no doubt come as a shock, I don't care particularly for dragons and Pern was only a passing fancy in my childhood. Okay, so I'm not as old as I'd like to make out after that prominent reviewer stated that the only ones who can enjoy it are 15 years old or younger...I'll have you know I'm a whole year older than that. :) Truthfully, I grabbed this book because it was the only fantasy book I could reach in a hurry and I only had mystery books at home, which I find stifling, since I prefer to get a dose of magic and adventure every once and awhile. And really, as soon as I checked it out, I began to have an anticipation that warned me this might be as good a first book as The Green Rider. Not excellent perhaps, but good. And it was. It was very colorful and full of life. I find too often that fantasies these days are filled more with death and so such. But this one had villains I could actually bear reading about. Ones who weren't the disgusting psychos best-selling authors have gleefully created. These were more interesting. Dark - yes, ofcourse, they are bad after all. But they weren't crazed and frothing at the mouth or dreaming sickened, perverted dreams (though they did have the obligatory evil cunning). That was refreshing to me. And the romance in the story kept the story's pace brisk and sympathetic, adding more depth to the characters. It was a good story because it was enjoyable. I'm not saying it's a masterpiece of literature nor am I saying it's a candy for babies. It was well-written. I'm reccommending it with my four stars but I'm also having some doubts as to the sequel, whose excerpt I read with fading eagerness. The author still seems worth the watching.
Rating: Summary: Dragonlovers of all ages! Review: This book is one of the best books I've read in a long time. If you loved the "Dragonriders of Pern" series, you will love "The Last Dragonlord." This book has a whole new world of characters, lands, and a fresh look on dragons. I've been a dragonlover for years. My big sister chased after unicorns while I pursued dragons. The Last Dragonlord and Dragon and Phoenix are both must reads. I also really like the Lysanyin horses. There really wasn't anything in this book that I DIDN'T like!
Rating: Summary: The Last Dragonlord Review: I'm a big fan of any book that features dragons, magical horses and pure magic. When I received this book I could not put it down, finished it is just under 2 hrs, a record for me since i kept going back to reread chapters instead of just rereading the whole book. I have been a speed reader since jr. high, and can't help reading so quickly. This book fulfilled all my favorite fantasy elements just in the first 5 chapters, really love the horses. I liked this book so much i couldn't wait for the sequel, just kept checking with amazon till it showed up. if you really like this book read the sequel, the dragon and the pheonix.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful work Review: Wonderful, wonderful book. I almost never read anything that hasn't been recommended to me, but the cover art got my attention, and I picked it up. I was more than impressed. I loved the concept of the weredragons, and Joanne's talent brought them to life. The imagery was wonderful, and the story was romantic, suspenseful, adventurous, and involving. I loved it, and I ordered the sequel as soon as I was done:)
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: It is nice to finally find a different perspective on the fantasy worlds created around Dragons. In many books, the situations and the plot are much the same. While this is true to an extent (good fights evil, good wins), Joanne Bertin presents a refreshing view on both Dragons and fantasy writing in general. Fans of Anne McCaffrey are sure to enjoy this captivating book and it's sequel, Dragon and Phoenix.
Rating: Summary: I'm 29 and very literate, and I still liked it Review: I have to disagree with the person below who believes only teenage girls would really love this book. I'm 29 and I enjoyed reading it. This book IS very romanticized and fairly predictable. However, I find that easier to deal with than too dark and predictable, which I've been seeing too much of in new fantasy books. I'd also like to point out that this is the author's first book. Yeah, her characters need some depth, but overall I think this is a good first work.
