Rating: Summary: Intriguing Review: When I got this book it was one of those times I was looking to add a new author to my list and I was basically just grabbing the first couple books of the shelf where I hadn't heard of the author before. I'm glad I got this one. Linden Rathan is a pretty decent guy who's spent a long time lonely, a very long time, over six hundred years. Linden is one of the legendary peace makers and lawgivers a Dragonlord a man whose soul was spilt in half and twinned with half a dragons soul. He's waiting for the other half of his soul to be born. He and two fellow Dragonlords have been dispatched to settle a regency debate that looks like it could last long enough for the young prince to take the throne on his own. Then things get interesting.... One of the most amazing things about this high quality book is, well the high quality, this is her first book.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Read Review: I got this book of a bargin table and just read it. I found it a book worth metionig as one of my favorites. My only complaint was that some of the charecters were a little too predictable.
Rating: Summary: A little of everything Review: I just finished reading this book, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I am sure some will say the pieces the author uses to build the story are unoriginal: The main plot is a classic power struggle, complete with evil conspiracy and a power-mad wizard. The romance between Rathan and his soultwin is likewise your basic romance drama (love at first sight, but circumstances come between them). Magic, swords, horses, dragons -- so what, right?Simply put, it was well done. The story was engaging, the characters had depth, and the narrative was rich. I found myself rooting for the good guys and worring when they got in trouble. There were doses of commedy, realistic dialog, and I even enjoyed the romance (which added flavor but did not dominate). This was a good story. It isn't Tolkien, but I do not expect nor desire everything I read to be like Tolkien. Dragonfans like myself will definately want to check it out, but this is a good light fantasy for anyone.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Book Review: I picked this up after reading the sample pages from Tor's website. While an easy read, it was a truely enjoyable book. While, like most fantasy works, it tends to be derivitive in plot style, the thought and depth of the world, and characters are impressive. Highly recommend this book, even though I'm neither adolescent, nor female. =)
Rating: Summary: GREAT FIRST BOOK Review: A great first book. The plot is rather simple, but is complex with plenty of twists and turns. There are several surprises and a new were-dragon. This book was a great read with a very good pace and enough explaination to keep the story moving.
Rating: Summary: Great Book!!!!!! Review: I really liked "The Dragonlord" it's one of those books you can put down kind of books. But the only thing that I didn't like about it was the sexual parts if they just took those parts out it would be an excellent book (or five star).
Rating: Summary: An Amazing Story Review: I loved this story. The characters were so real, you could relate to them. I felt as if I was there with them. I couldn't put the book down, it was one of the most amazing books I have ever read. For her first book, Joanne Bertin did an amazing job. I look forward to reading other books by her.
Rating: Summary: Last Dragonlord Review: This was a "lose sleeper"... Just could not wait to see if Linden gets his girl. It was nice to see that the bad guys and gals were not of an omnipotent breed and to see them blow it was great! Being a spatial type I would have liked a map so I could 'place' where things occured, but this was not a requirement to the story...I liked the characters and the story moved along a nice pace..The sequel has started out with another batch of 'Oriental' like baddies that cast a new shadow over Linden and Maurynn's future. Looks like more sleepless nights.....Just what I like
