Rating: Summary: Describes the basics of magic... Review: This book is the book in where Jeff Grubb expresses how the magic forces are abtained and used by the mages of the citadel. He stimulates your mind as you read further and further into the pages of the bible of magic. This book deserves an uncountable amount of stars.
Rating: Summary: This book was alright Review: THis book was pretty good but The Brothers War (also by Jeff Grubb was alot better and Brothers War deserves 5 stars. If you liked this, go read brothers war.
Rating: Summary: The best way I've ever seen to describe how magic works. Review: This is the first "Magic" book I've ever read and couldn't get enough of it. It took me 16 days to finish which is a record for me. When I finished it, I went to the book store to see if the second book was out yet. I'm drooling in impatientness for "...Ice Age Cycle, book II" to come out!

Rating: Summary: Very interesting, especially to a magic player. Review: This should be of particular interest to someone who plays the Magic: The Gathering card game, as it explains in detail how wizards use magic, and unlock the mana inside their sacred lands. It has suspense, action, and even some comedy(The "Magic Crossbow" scene is both funny and twisted). Though it says it is in the "Ice age cycle", it takes place during the "The Dark" expansion set, as it involves characters, creatures, and spells from that set.
Rating: Summary: Kind of a Lame Book. Review: This was an ok book. I've read much better books before and wouldn't recomend this book. The book was kind of long and dragged out
Rating: Summary: An excellent book to enter the world of Magic Review: This was my first book within the "Magic" realm. I have been an avid reader of DL and FR. I chose this book in particular because I was familiar with Jeff Grubb's writings in the FR world. This was a great book. I admit it reads different from the FR novels, because of the introduction at the beginning of each chapter. However, I quickly got use to this. If you have not read any other book from this realm, I strongly suggest you try this one out.
Rating: Summary: The Gathering Dark Review: Very good book!! This book is one of those that you just can't put down. It ties in really well with the trading card game. I was afraid that it wouldn't tie in with the game at all but it does very well. You don't need to know the game to love this book. I read this book and #2 in the series before reading "The Brother's War" by the same author. I urge you to read "The Brother's War" first because the characters in "The Gathering Dark" make references to Urza and Mishra and The Devestation all through the book. But you do not NEED to read it first. This book does a very good job of explaining everything. Not hard Vocabulary level or sentence structure. You should buy this book and others by this author. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
