Summary: Finding Humanity in a Nasty Future World
Review: Extensions is a novella that never does what you expect. The most engrossing part of the story is about exceptional kids groping their way toward friendship and adulthood in rural futuristic surroundings where more is going on than meets the eye. But if this sounds like Orson Scott Card, hold onto your hat, because the answers are bigger and meaner than you imagine. Every time you think you've figured it out the author adroitly yanks the rug out from under you, leaving you standing somewhere you never expected to be.
