Summary: Filled with the Peace and Love that we were meant to show!
Review: I am currently reading the third book in this series and I can't get enough. I think they are wonderful stories that show how good life could be if we all learned to Love as Joshua/Jesus does. Never has a book filled me with such peace. In my opinion "The Joshua Series" it is a must read.

Summary: "For him who has ears to hear..."
Review: In a time when it seems we've forgotten God's simple message: "Love Me...love one another...believe in the One Whom I've sent..." Joseph Girzone brings it to light again in the life of this kind and gentle character, Joshua. This is a fine book.

Summary: The worst thing about this book is what is not in it.
Review: If the idea of a somewhat disgruntiled former Catholic priest creating dialog for Jesus offends you read no futher this book is definitly not for you. Dispite some very justfied criticims of the denominationalism, as well the Catholic and protestant churchs' power stuctures there is very little in this book to offend anyone, and that may be the biggest problem with this book. Nowhere in this book does the main character Joshua/Jesus say anything controversal (at one point he does say to another character that to find God he should look inside himself, which seemed a bit new ageish to me) Joshua/Jesus in this book Never preaches Salvation, never condems evil (Murder abortion, adultry, pornography, Idolatry...ect) Never speaks in parables and rarely even quotes scripture (new or old testament). In short the Jesus of this book is not the Jesus of the Bible. The Jesus in this book is a feel good politicaly correct character. Despite the flaws this book isn't all bad it is an easy to follow story with a morderately interesting plot, but far from a masterpiece.

Summary: Simplistic
Review: A truly bad book. It's disturbing that this kind of simplistic nonsense is so popular.

Summary: A great look at the problem with Christianity today
Review: As a recovered Catholic (converted to the Presbyterian Church) I read this book with awe. Every facet of the Catholic Church that I found repellent is vocalized here. Never once in my upbringing (12 years of Catholic school and church every Sunday) did I hear that we were God's creatures free to be the best person we could be. All I ever heard was how much time in purgatory I'd spend if I missed Confession. Where is that mentioned in Scripture? The only people that will really hate this book are Catholics that have been brainwashed to obey and never question. Open your eyes and hearts - Christ wasn't about rituals, he was about tolerance, love and freedom, all of which have been forgotten by the "Holy Mother Church."

Summary: This book was just a little too pleasant for my tastes.
Review: Background:

I am a 24 year old male engineering and computer science student living in SC. I do have a large humanities background.

Overview:

I gave this book a 7 out of 10.

I thought it was a good book and I did enjoy it. I didn't find myself unable to put it down like so many others have. Personally, I found the book to be what I would expect of Jesus, if he were to return to Earth. I thought the first book in the collection was a little too, shall we say, sweet but I must admit the metaphors were nice, even if they made me feel like I was reading a book of fables from childhood.

For better or worse I didn't feel that this book challenged or question me. Again it may be the gentle sweet style the book is written in. I generally find I enjoy firm and direct writting. The book was just a little too pleasant for my tastes.

Thanks.

Summary: Excellent, plain, simple, and inspiring.
Review: I first read about the author in Guideposts and decided then that this might be interesting reading. After purchasing "Joshua", I started reading and couldn't put it down. Once I completed it I was hungry for the next and so on and so on. I told several of my friends about it and loaned my copy (which I seldom do) to a very close friend. I then told my daughter who was in college at the time, but loves to read like I do about it and then she got hooked. The best thing that happened out of all the novels is that it caused my daughter to take a closer look at her life and her beliefs. Which has been instrumental in her giving her life to the Lord and doing his work. These books may be fictional, but who's to say that our Lord and Savior HAS NOT, WILL NOT, and MAY NOT come live and work amongst us? But if he does....HOW WILL HE BE RECEIVED BY YOU?? Who knows he may have been that beggar on the street that you shunned or the person at the Mall that you laughed it.DO WE REALLY KNOW???

Summary: CONFUSING
Review: Joshua is a book that helped me tu remember the simplicity of life, but on the other hand it confused me a lot about the concepts of my religion. So, while it gave me a little light, it also gave me a lot of dark. So far I will not recommend the book to anybody.

Summary: Joshua A Parable for Today was the best book I ever read.
Review: I had to read the book Joshua for my summer reading for eighth grade and it was a wonderfully spiritual book. I would recomend this book to any person who wants to learn more about what Jesus wanted the church to be like. If I had to choose one book to read over and over again it would be Joshua.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: No book has ever affected me so powerfully.
Review: This book is simple to read, yet incredibly captivating and compelling. I have just finished reading it (and I quite literally could not put it down), and I am already purchasing several copies as gifts. It has affected me so profoundly that it is hard to find the words. The book takes the classic question "What would Jesus do?" and opens one's eyes and heart to the possibilities. I would recommend this book to Christian, Jew or agnostic alike, and believe all could benefit from its insightful story.
