Summary: Joshua Brought Me Full Circle...
Review: I was given this book over four years ago, by a young woman in the church at my alma mater. When she handed it to me, she told me many people she knew had read it, and it changed their lives. I was going through a period of spiritual despair, and reading this book not only pulled me out of such a dark place, but it gave me a direction and focus on Christ I never had before. As the years have gone on, I have come to understand that I am called to the ministry, and have even been blessed by God to meet the humble priest who wrote this book. He speaks just as he writes, making a few simple comments, elaborating ever so slightly, then leaving you with your own thoughts to expand upon. After speaking with Father Girzone, I now know that I must devote my studies and eventual ministry to understanding Christ as a person, and bringing this understanding forth for all willing to listen. May God continue to bless Father Girzone as he receives further glimpses into the Divine.

Summary: Strong, beautiful, intriguing!
Review: When I was given this book, I had no idea that it had a religious foundation. By reading all of these online reviews, it's easy to see that people have very strong opinions - they either love it or they hate it - none are in-between. This book will cause controversy, but that's the point. This book will stir vivid emotions, but again, that's the point. It's an amazingly blunt, honest story with characters pulled right out of every day life. It gave me an insight that enriched my day-to-day life in ways for which I am truly thankful. This is the best book I've ever read! What a beautiful, touching story. I can't wait to read it again!

Review: What would Jesus be like if he was on earth today? This book uses the character Joshua to portray Jesus to answer that question. The result is a book that is difficult to put down. Whether you are Catholic, Baptist, Lutheran, Jewish, or any other religion you'll have a difficult time forgetting the simple yet powerful message that flows from this book.

Summary: insomnia cure
Review: I am a Christian and liked the message very much, but I don't see why the author had to take a novel to deliver his message in the way that he did: Joshua ate, worked with wood, slept, ate, worked with wood, slept...too much of the story was taken up with all of that. It was extremely slow moving, and not in a good way-giving the reader nothing to eat up and think about-just banging one on the head with the same message that was refreshing at first, but quickly wore out.

Summary: Excellent fictional account of what could have occurred.
Review: A friend gave me the book in 1991. I read it five times before passing it on to another. Since then, I have given it to at least six other people. As an ordained African/American Baptist minister, I found that it challenged my Christian sensitivity, without offending any of my beliefs. At the same time, it forced me to re-examine my own prejudices toward persons of other faith groups as well as individuals of other racial, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. It placed Christianity where it should be, in the arena of action and compassion, not inside the walls of the institutional church or plastered into a doctrinal hierachy, be it Roman, Protestant or Orthodox.Joshua represents the best that man can become when he allows God to have complete and total control of his will. Excellent reading for persons of all ages and faith groups. Even those who have no faith will be challenged if they accept the allegory for what it is.

No one who reads this book will ever be the same. If you are searching for hope, love and wisdom you will find it here. It will also cause you to keep on searching. It will make you want to be a better person and have more love and understanding for anyone. You will not be able to put this book down !!!!!!!

Summary: Simple but Effective
Review: This book was inspirational to me because I am part of a Catholic community and rules of the church are quite strict. I had not wanted to believe in God if he was forcing these harsh rules on me. I couldn't understand why God wanted everyone to be constantly thinking about rules and not living life to the fullest instead. Once I read this book I realized that I am allowed to figure out what I believe in, and that I can question my faith. This book is for young adults because the diction is quite simple. It is effective in drawing in a teenage crowd of readers that would not normally read a theological book. I completely enjoyed reading this every night before I went to bed. It was a positive way of ending my day.

Summary: Loved it
Review: I thought this story was very warm and inspiring. It spoke about my feelings about organized religion. And Joshua was so lovable. I got chills at the end. I was sorry the story had ended, because I actually missed Joshua, too. So I'm on to read the next Joshua story. My only complaint was also in the editing as one person pointed out. I felt the author stepped out from behind the curtain at some points and interjected his own feelings and disgust about things that weren't coming from the character of Joshua at that time. So the comments stuck out like a sore thumb and I resented them. It only happened a few times, though, and for the most part I had a most enjoyable read.

Review: A man with a simple life, perfect, loving, and ready to serve God's people. Get to know the emotional side of how Jesus felt when he was on earth. This book was very inspirational. It gives a great way of showing what is wrong with the churches and Christians today. This book answers, "What does Jesus want to teach us about our lives today?"
