Summary: Not 100% believable in parts but a very scary what if
Review: I have been a long time lover of Erics books. This is my favorite of them all. Arc Light was more believable but this was a very scary what if senerio that could lie in our future.

The 2 main flaws I found with this book was that it hardly mentioned anything about a air war. We have the most avanced airforce in the world, WHAT HAPPENED to it, and the second. Where was Russia in all this. It never says one thing about the red army in all this but, other than that this book is a must read for any fan of war books. The charaters are well developed in this book. You will have ones you love and others you hate. I really do hope there is a sequel to this because it was left wide open for one at the end. A must read for any action junkie out there. Mr Harry makes you wonder if one day the Sleeping Dragon of the east will awaken and try to devour the Eagle of the west. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: I did enjoy this book but ...
Review: ... even my limited knowledge of war tells me that this book isn't slightly grounded in reality. There's no way China could possibly conquer so much of Asia and right to the US mainland all the way to Washington. Such a thing as supply lines come into play, stretching them as far as the US mainland in ridiculous. plus the fact that a technological superiority acts as a force multiplier over numbers. A naval invasion would have been chewed to pieces. The US still has that the great technical advantage this book. Also, anyone invading an island or over sea needs a 3 to 1 troop advantage to have any success. I find it especially funny that somehow the Chinese manage to launch a surprise amphibious assault on Florida AND California simultaneously.

In a nutshell, even an army as sophisticated as the US could not defeat the combined armies of the US, Europe, India, Pakistan, Israel etc etc etc. Which China is not, even in the vastly improved size of their army, the US still has a technical superiority.

Anyway, the story is about the President's daughter who is a grunt in the US who somehow keeps avoiding getting killed as the Chinese overrun more of the US right up to the capital, the President who has to find the means to repel the invasion and various Chinese leaders on the other side. I won't even begin to try to explain how one of the up and coming Chinese army leaders is a cousin of the President's daughter.

Good for pulp entertainment but not to be taken even slightly seriously. Doesn't end satisfyingly either, you'll see what I mean if you get there.

Also, I found it very odd that in this book, Taiwan and Russia were not mentioned even once.

Review: Unbelievable story, the first of his books i read and could not put it down. great characters and well defined story line. has been left way open for a sequel. is this going to happen? i want to know more about all the years of war leading up to this (only briefly touched upon within the novel) and of the U.S. secret spacefighter project, does it suceed?. what a writer, all i can say is AWESOME.

Summary: Frightening cautionary tale against isolationism
Review: The US is the final stop on Communist China's ten-year World Conquest tour, and we just sat around and let them get that far to begin with. Revolving around the battle to hold the Chinese off until we can complete construction on three arsenal ships to sink the PLA Navy before they can land reinforcements, it rotates a lot between attempts to unseat the President in DC, the ground war fought by the President's daughter from the Gulf of Mexico right up to the Potomac River, a Special Forces trooper raising havoc behind enemy lines, and a half-Caucasian high-ranking Chinese politico running things. It's an excellent reason why the right-wing agenda of isolationism is a really bad idea for everyone.

Summary: Just say NO!
Review: I am ashamed I bought, read and finished this book. It was so unbelievable. Like all books lately the women act like men and the men begin to act like women. Stephie Roberts the presidents daughter serving on the front lines (right) transforms into Rambo. The president sees a hot chick at a war briefing begins to sleep with her even while being investigated as a enemy spy. The president acting like a love starved wimp. It just made me sick. I can go on and on but the bottom line is do not buy this book. Even if you get the book for free don't read it.

Summary: "Great Characters, Exciting Story"
Review: The great characters really help drive this story. It's the near future and China pretty much rules the world. The only obstacle to its power hungry goals is the United States. For the first time since 1812, Americans battle a foreign enemy on their own soil.

Harry really draws you into the war with a stellar cast. Stephie Roberts, daughter of the President of the United States, is an 18-year-old private on the front lines. Starts off nervous, afraid, unsure. But battle after battle help transform her into a hardened person, willing to die before letting the Chinese dominate her country. President Bill Baker tries to hold everything together through sheer force of will as he deals with the Chinese invaders and members of his own government and military plotting to overthrow him for, in their belief, stronger leadership. Very interesting character in Chinese Lt. Wu, son of the U.S. Administrator who seeks to prove himself in combat, but is not allowed. Grows more and more distant and rebellious as a result. Really liked Green Beret Captain Hart, fighting in enemy-occupied Alabama. Pulls off some very cool attacks. Comes off as a seemingly ordinary guy, but with a subtle lethal streak to him.

Harry puts together excellent combat scenes that make you feel part of the action. The desparation is evident as Chinese forces role through Alabama, Georgia, the Carolinas and California. Probably my one complaint is that I would have liked to have seen some more partisan action behind the lines as American civilians take up arms to fight the Chinese any way they can. But all in all, a very well done book.

Summary: I liked the book
Review: All in all I thought that this was a good book. I thought that there was a good amount of action in the body of the book, and the characters played their roles very well. My favorite character in the book was Jim Hart. I loved his role and was always interested in what he would do next. Did you see the Simpsons last night. My that was funny. I love that show. I thought the plot in this book flowed well and had hardly any interuptions, and that makes the book more enjoyable to read. The only bad part about Invasion was the ending. I thought the ending was mediocre because of the fact that it felt like it cut off. I think that Eric should have taken another hundred pages and wrote about how the Aresonal ship did. Otherwise this was a good book to read.

Summary: A letdown
Review: Having read and immensely enjoyed "ARC LIGHT" and "PROTECT & DEFEND", this one proved a terrific letdown. "ARC LIGHT" grabbed the reader by the throat by OPENING with the worst-case nightmare (a sucessful nuclear attack on the US) that usually only lurks threateningly near the end of your average tecno-thriller. "INVASION" has the germ of a idea with similliar nightmare potentiale (invasion of the US), but without an iota of thought spent on providing a rational background. "PROTECT & DEFEND" had believable, living grunts in the trenches you found yourself rooting for. "Invasion" has flag-waving supermen with an overlay of personal insecurity for P.C. While the past two books did throw the reader in on the deep end, this one tries to establish a "past history" that reads like a second rate soap opera. And while the first two had a forgiveable amount of US patriotism, this one easily crosses the dangerous dividing line to unchecked nationalism. There is exciting moments where the "old" Harry shines through, but all in all the book reads like it was written by two people - one of which who was dead set on tearing down mr. Harry's earlier reputation.

Summary: awesome future reality
Review: the best story i have read in regards to the near future history of the world, awesome realisation of what the sleeping dragon may become, i have read a lot of techno thrillers and this guy is up there with the best, and i would daresay this book is the best

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not up to Harry's standard
Review: Mr Harry ususally writes well crafted stories, but, this one seems just a little rushed, and much more implausible than his other stories. I realize that you have to suspend belief to a certain degree to enjoy technothrillers, but this is quite a stretch. The reason that the best technothirllers are so good, is because they have some degree of believability. This story just didn't have that. Many other reviewers have made the same comments that I would make, so I won't repeat them.

I hope Harry's next offering is better
