Rating: Summary: Couldn't wait to get back to read it... Review: ...that doesn't happen too often. The pace and the subject kept me going the whole time. As far as the religious implications, Hey, IT'S FICTION. Con(s) I feel the Nemisis character was developed a little too late. The Brotherhood reminds me of a more radical counterpart to the one from 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'. Pro(s) Well written, easy to follow. Science not written over your head. Technology was believable.Good job Michael Cordy, good job. Thank you.
Rating: Summary: Interesting idea wrecked by dreadful writing Review: according to various interviews published this side of the atlantic cordy approached this novel as if he were selling washing powder. he also bought a book on how to write a bestseller and boy, does it show. the writing is wooden, the characterisation appalling, and you can guarantee that every time a half decent idea rears its head out of the dross, cordy can kill it with a well-chosen bludgeon. good luck to him and his million-dollar advances. the question is, who on earth accepted this rubbish in this form?
Rating: Summary: Just read it with an objective perspective. Review: Despite it being a genetic thriller, Cordy manages to use simple clear words to allow people that are unfamilier with biology jargon to understand fully the story. Perhaps of the moral and religious implications, many may find the story hard to accept and even an insult to their religion (Christianity). It is true that Cordy has not successfully convinced us that his arguments are merely there to create a novel and the mention of "genes of God" has no moral implications. It would be more satisfactory if readers can take a new perspective and read the book with a more objective mindset. Being a Christian myself, I do find certain chapters in the book conflicting with what I believe or want to believe...but if I take the side of and atheist, yes, the book really fascinates me. Basically, this is a great read.. if one can remain objective and unprejudiced.
Rating: Summary: I liked it Review: Different; kept me entertained in two airports.

Rating: Summary: A definate "must read" Review: From start to finish Mr. Cordy displays a storytelling talent that makes me wonder if this is really his first novel. The characters are real people with fears, hopes and expectations that come alive page after page
Rating: Summary: A book that's hard to put down Review: I brought this book as something to read on my way back to the UK after a business trip to the States. Unfortunatly I made the mistake of starting the book one evening and now I have to buy another book for the return trip having finished it in three nights. The book has the qualities of Michael Crichton and Arthur C. Clark rolled into one. The result is a compelling read that questions many of your own beliefs and you find yourself debating it's content even after you've stopped reading. Looking forward to the next book from this new and talented author.
Rating: Summary: A techno-thriller with a moral twist-in-the-tail Review: I found Michael Cordy's Miracle Strain definitely a good read. Some aspects are better than others, though, and I wonder if the whole Secret Brotherhood, Worldwide Conspiracy and Mystical Assassin cum Ninja extraodinaire were necessary. The genetic odyssey and the moral questions involved are subject enough to keep us captivated. Some readers found some of the religious aspects irreverent, or "seen through the eyes of an atheist". I think they referred to the banalisation of miracles. To me this is just another instance of a possible rational explanation to natural events. Please... the inquisition is long gone, and even Teillard de Chardin is acceptable. None of this goes against the basic tenets of the Christian faith. Finally, the end is very intriguing, and I suspect there could be a sequel in the making - how will these 13 people use their "Miraculous" new abilities? What moral conflicts will they have - or will they just become immensely wealthy.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put the book down...!! Review: I just finished the book... and I feel exhausted because it was such an exciting book. I read books only when I feel lured into the story from the first chapter. I just couldn't put the book down.
Rating: Summary: Best Book of my Highschool Career Review: I read this book in 11th grade just because I like to read. It has got to be my favorite book of all time. The religion-science believe structure is so logical, that anyone who is open minded might actually have their entire life effected by it. Not only is it a great plot, but the ethical structure is very rich and eye opening. A book who will read over and over again.
