Summary: Argh! a trilogy!
Review: After reading _Song In The Silence_, I looked on line to see if there would be a second book. I hoped so, (there was the prophesy to wrap up and the Lost to restore) but if one didn't get published, still, there was closure. Not so with _The Lesser Kindred_. I wasn't expecting this to be a trilogy, so when the book ended so suddenly (really, one could say it didn't end) I was left yelling "Argh!" for about oh, 5 minutes at least. I mean, Elizabeth Kerner writes so well, that when reading, you get involved with her characters as if they were your own friends that you've known all your life. And to those of you my age and older, it was very like seeing Empire Strikes Back in the theaters and knowing you'll have to wait roughly 2 years before the next one comes out. "We're going to get Han, meet us at Tatooine" (Not the real quote, just the essence here...) "Argh!", I say, "Argh!" I can only hope that it doesn't take as long for the third book in /this/ series to get published as it did between the first and second books. Because I've fallen in love with this story. I recommend Miss Kerner's work to everyone who likes fantasy, but I recommend waiting for the third book to come out _before_ you buy this one. That way you'll be able to just put down the cliffhanger and pick up the next book without yelling "Argh!" and waking up your cats, the way I did.

Summary: Worthy of the first book
Review: Around a year ago I first read Song in the Silence. I loved it, and periodically looked for sequels on the internet. All I can say about this book is: It's as great as the first one! I kind of had worries that it wouldn't be as good, sequels sometimes aren't, but this was! It brought in LOTS of new plot interests, and had an appropriately cliffhanger ending. I can't wait until the next book!

My only quibbles (is that a word?): I kind of hoped that Lanen and Varien/Akhor would actually bring back the Lost, instead of helping the Lesser Kindred, but, it's a minor thing.

This book left a lot of stuff unresolved, but I loved it anyway.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: Elizabeth Kerner is indeed an excellant new author. I highly recommend her book The Lesser Kindred. I look forward to more from Ms. Kerner.

Summary: Couldn't pick it up
Review: I didn't even finish this book. It's rare for me to not finish a book once started, no matter how bad. Especially a sequel.

However, 65 pages was all I could stomach of this one. Yeah, they love each other. Yeah, they're married now. I figured that out in the first couple of pages. I certainly did not need 65 pages of them gazing adoringly at one another and hopping into bed. And every once in a while, the dragons still on the island would have a section, and I'd think, "Ok, the real story is going to start now." No such luck. Soon enough it was back to kissing and gazing and having deep thoughts while doing nothing.

The viewpoint still changes constantly, just like the first book, except it seemed worse this time. Very choppy.

Summary: Lacking Something....
Review: I enjoyed the first book, I really did. And I was excited when this one seemed to carry on the plot. But after reading several chapters, I was just bored. The cute little love scenes REALLY got to me after a while...and the plot just seemed to drag through the middle of the book. It did pick up a little toward the end...and left you hanging. Overall, I like the writing style...all the characters in first person (a little confusing at times, when I forgot who was speaking) but that made it a little more interesting. And I liked the new characters...they helped make the book more bearable. I would say that if you read the first one, you should probably read this one, too. Even when it seems like you're never going to finish it, the end kind of makes it worth while. Still, I'm hoping the third book is more like the first. :X

Summary: Alright
Review: I enjoyed The Song in the Silence, but when I picked up The Lesser Kindred, I was originally repulsed by the terrible mush at the beginning! I mean... it was just too much and I gave up on the book. I generally enjoy a good romance, but I have no desire to listen over and over to Varian and Lanen's repeated expressions of love for eachother.

I decided to give The Lesser Kindred another chance, about a year later, and once I skimmed past the mushy stuff, it was an alright read. I enjoyed Jamie and Rella's parts, but truthfully, I skimmed the parts with the dragons, because i did not care. The mages were very cool, but I would have prefered to meet Maran instead...

Altogther an okay read.

Summary: A great read....
Review: I loved this one as much as the last... It lived up to most of what was promised at the end of the first. There is one problem, with such a good cliff hanger as to what's going to happen next... When is the next book going to come out... Please hurry can't wait to read.

Summary: A long wait, and worth every minute
Review: I must've read Song in the Silence right after it was first published, because I think I've been waiting 3 years for The Lesser Kindred. And this book was worth every minute of that sometimes excrutiating wait! I read a lot, and I read a lot of junk. But not Elizabeth Kerner. These books got inside me, twisted and turned and got comfortable and will likely live forever in my mind. Sure, like everyone I'd love to see the wait for the next book be shorter. But that's because I'm aching for another one...do I want it faster at the expense of quality, which is what makes these stories so deep and desirable? Absolutely not! Ms. Kerner, take as long as you need, just don't quit!

Summary: Amazing books
Review: I read them but I think I will have to start over.... I hear next one is coming out sometime this year...I only hope it's true! Keep up the good work, Ms. Kerner....and please don't delay TOO much. =)

Summary: not as good as the first
Review: I really couldn't get into it. The heroine lost some off the indepentence sharpness and strength she had in the fist book, definatly worth reading if u REALLY liked Song in the silence but not as good i think.
