Summary: Jules Vernes at his best!
Review: I'm 14 and just recently checked this out at the library. I assure you I'm not that avid of a reader. But this copy being 500 pages long, I wouldn't put it down since page 335. The book is about 5 Civil War prisoners in Richmond. The escape in a balloon and find themselves stranded on this island. Adventure, wonder, tragedy, and humor ensue. Unfortunately I couldn't imagine out a map, but Verne's descriptions were beautiful, and very imaginative. This is also a very character-driven book. You could even love Top, their dog. It hooked me on as well. I felt very satisfied when they established Granite House, I smiled when Pencroft was presented a cigar, almost cried when Herbert was shot, and did cry for a few seconds when Nemo ... and one of Verne's other beautiful creations, the Nautilus, an alter-ego of Nemo ... below. Words can't describe how good this book it is, and I reccomend it to everyone.

Summary: The Greatest Book Ever Written
Review: I have read this book at least twelve times and plan on reading many more. I encourage adventure lovers to read this and pay attention to the detail. There are very few books like this written today that are worth our time.

Summary: The best young adult novel from my youth
Review: Richly detailed and incredibly involving. Only bad thing was that bit about the monkey they groomed and dressed up like a man. Kinda stomach churning.

Summary: One of the GREATEST novels of all time!!!!!!
Review: This is one of the best books I've ever read. It has joy, tragedy, and mystery. Great for the science fiction lover and for the classic book lover. Mysterious things happen throughout the book and the answer is only revealed at the end. It is one of those books that you never want to put down.

Summary: OUTSTANDING BOOK!!!!
Review: I have just gotten to this www.amazon.com page and I like how I can review books. This book-Mysterious Island)Is an Excellent book! I read it last year, and I was 11 years old. I loved how the people thought of what to do while they were trapped on the island. I also liked how Jules Verne brought in Captain Nemo. I have never read 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea but I plan on it. Jules Verne fills this book with mystery and adventure all packed in one.

Summary: great book!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: The best "stranded on an island" book I've ever read. Much better than Robinson Crusoe or Swiss Family Robinson. I liked it because it gave a lot of scientific and mathematical evidence to what the characters were doing. There were so many different plot twists it kept my interest the whole way through. In my opinion this is Jules Verne's best book and it's a shame that more people haven't heard of it. If you like adventure read this book.

Summary: It's a really good read
Review: I liked this book a lot. I bought it for there wasn't 20,000 Leagues at that time at the bookstore, but after reading both, I'd say that both are good, but Mysterious Island is more enjoyable to read. I was really impressed by the brains shown, and got me wondering if I could think stuff like that if I ever got stranded.
