Rating: Summary: Noted UFO historian/researcher thinks humankind is screwed! Review: Dr. Jacobs, a noted academician and UFO historian, has been immersed in the investigation of the alien abduction phenomenon for over a decade. As a result of his research and that conducted by other notable UFO investigators, he has come to the following conclusions: (1) abductions have been occuring since the turn of the century, (2) alien-human hybrids have been created for now numerous generations, (3) the physical distinctions that were once apparent between hybrids and humans is decreasing to the point that one won't be able to recognize the differences for much longer, and (4) the alien hybrids, holding dear to the "alien agenda", will take control of the Earth by blending in and utilizing their persuasive abilities to position themselves in the seats of world power. I'd like to think that Jacobs is simply nuts. Unfortunately, I cannot make the assertion that he is. His fears may be warranted.
Rating: Summary: The Reason for Alien Abduction Review: Dr. Jacobs, a Temple University professor of history, tells us of his research into the alien abduction phenomenon and writes this book to tell us what he feels is the rationale behind it. According to Jacobs, the aliens are planning to inhabit our world and control us.There are a few things I have difficulty with in reading his research. First, his evidence is mostly from hypnosis sessions. Jacobs' credentials as a historian is not in doubt, but he never discusses where he learned to hypnotize people. He discusses how other hypnotists are making errors by asking leading questions, but assures us that he is not. As an example, he mentions an abductee telling him that the aliens were playing a game of Monopoly. Not wanting to lead the abductee, he asks what the aliens are looking at. This way, he does lead the person to believe Monopoly is really being played. Kudos for that, but Jacobs, it appears, has lead the witness to believe in the alien abduction. He does mention a poll, the Roper Poll, in Omni magazine which reputedly says that statistically abductions happen. From the same poll, however, there should also be ghosts, which he does not go into any detail on. By his work, he feels that there is a breeding program (the alien abductees and the aliens) which will lead to the aliens taking control of our planet. Basically, we will not be able to distinguish the hybrids (as he calls them) and us. This is a bit apocalyptic. Jacobs does call for stricter guidelines in hynopsis, which everyone feels would be helpful. I just wish he had thought of this before predicting the end of the world as we know it.

Rating: Summary: Exact nature of 'threat' not clearly presented Review: Great summary of evidence. However, the exact nature of the 'threat' isn't clearly stated. Granted Jacobs isn't privy to the aliens blueprint, however, some concrete scenarios should be considered. How can a few million 'hybrids' (who are near human anyway) take over the world ? If the takeover relies on superior technology (like a naively understood Cortes/Aztec scenario) why don't the aliens just go for it with their tech without relying on hybrids ? Contrarily, if their technology ISN'T up to par for takeover, what else can the hybrids accomplish ? A new voting bloc ? A PAC on capital hill ? Or what ?
Rating: Summary: unwarranted conclusions based on evidence presented!!! Review: Having read "UFO Controversy in America", "Secret Life" and finally "The Threat" in the space of a few months I can honestly say that the Threat ended up not being a threat at all. Jacobs does a good job presenting his cases about hybrids and such but I still can't see how he can possible conclude that we are all doomed. I talked to Jacobs about this, hoping that maybe he made it all up to sell books, but he does in fact say he believes all that stuff 10 months after its release. I still respect Jacobs and his work but find it hard to see how he can make such grand assumptions. Maybe aliens are going to colonize Earth after we've killed ourselves off by pollution etc. If they wanted to destroy us they could have done it years ago; and if they are integrating into our society, so what! If after a few generations we're all hybrids then whats the problem!? We wouldn't even notice anyway. The process would be so slow that it wouldn't be like we've been assimilated or anything like that. The only way the aliens could possibly be a 'Threat' is if they knew we were going to be destroyed by a comet or some natural disaster and they didn't try and warn us or help us. Is an act of Omission mean a Threat? I don't think so.....thats it for my rantings jan.99
Rating: Summary: Jacobs assembles some more of the jigsaw pieces Review: Having read many different articles in numerous publications it is apparent that there are many pieces to this immense jigsaw puzzle we refer to as Alien visitation. It can surely be no accident that cultural differences amongst the population on this planet rarely have any bearing on the "facts" surrounding the abduction phenomenon. I was not surprised to read what Jacobs had to say, but the methodical approach he has taken in researching the phenomenon adds a great deal of credence to the subject in general. The big question is if the reality of Alien abduction is nothing more than a fantasy, then why does Jacobs' research highlight similarities in many unconnected events so well. I couldn't put it down. It's an excellent book, which presents a very plausible argument for those wishing to understand WHY THEY are here.
Rating: Summary: Abduction Enigma: Solved? Review: Hi. I have been studying the UFO and Abduction phenomenon for about 20 years. Even though Dr. Jacobs offers a grim vision of the future, he has put more pieces of the Abduction Puzzle together than any other investigator. He has systematically divided the alien's purposes and role here on Earth and the information he brings forth is difficult to swallow, specially the part of Hybridization Programs and Interaction with Humans. If Dr. Jacobs is right, then these visitors have their own personal intentions but we mustn't forget that there are many different ET civilization that have interacted and are interacting with Humanity and not all have the same Reproductive Purposes. In general, this book helped me acquire one more piece of the ET Puzzle. Not a bad book. Dr. Jacobs has set forth an interesting theory: Genetic Manipulation of the Human Species. Rating: Summary: ...on the road to damascus Review: I find it interesting how the amazon.com review manages to turn this into a comedy classic...it is a good example of the human tendancy to react to semantic/semiotic ambiguity, emotionally with humor. What is interesting to me about this book is how it more or less documents how a historian, who did his PhD dissertation on the UFO/Alien mythos in America, eventually is drawn into a rather fearful "belief" in the reality of Alien abduction, finally to the point of positing a "breeding program" for the near-future takeover of humanity's social structures. Dr. Jacobs in fact seems quite hopeless in his faith in this paradigm. Other things that are interesting to me about the paradigm described in this book is how similar it is in some ways to the historical reality of the "Alien invasion" from Europe of the Americas...note how "breeding programs" in the Southeastern US were used to gain inroads into American Indian nations, to change their economies, their governance, their cultural values, etc. So, is the whole "Alien abduction" phenomenon a corporate psychological projection happening as a result of the repression of America's own Alien invasion history? Or, is it simply the same old same old happening at a new level of cosmic order...are there really bugs from space who want to have sex with you or your sister and who are hoping they can take over via hybridization? I think if you simply read this book as a documentation of how the Alien abduction mythos is taking root and spreading, you'll be well served (lol...remember the old Twilight Zone episode with the Alien cookbook?).
Rating: Summary: No answer to an age-old problem Review: I first saw this book at my local library last year. Out of curiosity, I took it out in order to peruse the material inside. What I found didn't surprise me. Jacob's makes a great attempt to present to the reader the accounts of alien abductees and does a fine job at presenting the facts about this. However, the problem is not a recent one. This kind of activity has been going on since man first walked the earth. Jacques Vallee has also written some very good material on the same sort of stuff. Vallee, however, delves deeper into the phenomena and traces these things back to the dawn of man. What are now called "aliens" were once called "fairies", "gnomes", "elves" and "dwarfs" in some cultures. All of these "entities" did the same exact thing as "aliens" do today. Medieval Europe also had problems with incubi and succubi; entities that would transform themselves into a reasonable facsimile of humans. Vallee, though, attributes this phenomena to something that is from earth; not from the stars. The Bible also tells of entities (Angels) who rebelled against God and took as many earth women as they wanted during the antediluvian period. In short, all of this phenomena is not because of other people from outer space, but of fallen angels which are a reality. Vallee closes by asking the question, But who are they? Jacobs doesn't go that far in his summation, preferring to rest with the assumption that these things, these "aliens", are bona fide extraterrestrials. Nothing could be further from the truth. It's a simple problem involving the forces of good vs evil. And evil "angels", or "aliens" tell enough lies to make the unsuspecting person believe them.
Rating: Summary: What a disservice has been done to us! Review: I have just spent the weekend reading this book and put it down with a strong feeling that I have been a badly used. Dr. Jacobs is a well respected UFO researcher with superb academic credentials. However, if one individual has been able to piece together this conclusion on a limited budget, we can only imagine how much more evidence the governments of this world have accumulated. If Dr. Jacobs is correct, the leadership of humanity has sat idly by for most of the twentieth century as this hybridization process has been performed. If and when his predictions come true, humanity's leadership will have been responsible for a terrible disservice done to us by the coverup they have maintained concerning this subject.
