Summary: Intriguing!
Review: Ancient Designs is a tightly woven tale of discovery: both of ancient technologies and of insidious intentions. Jareth Sykr refuses to follow the mandates of the SED - the Society for Ethical Development - and despite their attempts to eliminate him, he continues to hunt through the galaxy for the once commonplace technologies that will revolutionize the world he lives in. But the SED is a potent force with its own ancient designs...
Intriguingly developed, layer upon layer, until the last plot thread is tied up.

Summary: A good read with potential for more books to come
Review: Overall, Ancient Designs is a good, easy read. It has a quick pace that makes it very easy to read through large portions at a time. The character development is done well, and the plot-lines are well-developed. Hage's technical experience is evident by the details in the story. He gives just enough to create an image in the reader's mind, but not so much as to lay it all out or bore the reader. While it was a satisfying read, I was left wanting to read more about the lead-in and aftermath of the main story. Then again, that just gives Hage incentive to write some more.
