Summary: My Review
Review: Three young space travellers come across an escape pod, inside is a young girl, well not really a girl, a sort of half human half unicorn. These three young and enthusiastic young men raise this girl. They are miners and they find out that the young girl's race matures much faster than the human race does. The company they work for has been replaced by a new one and they lose her. When they get her back they flee from the place on there ship. One of the young men has a very rich and well, weird uncle. They decide to go to the uncle's hidden mansion and hide there for a while. There is just one slight problem, the uncle collects different items. The girl is one of them. I mean she has a horn on her forhead. See how this story ends. I would recomend this book to most anyone. If you don't read this, you are going to miss out. So take some time and read this book.

Summary: Good book, great characters.
Review: In general this book was good. Even very good. However, I've found Anne McCaffrey's work in general to be a bit more addicting than this collaboration with Margaret Ball. I can normally tell an excellent book by how many times I am able to put it down for real life interferance--this one was way too easy to set aside. Despite the lack of raving, I really did enjoy the book, and immediately ordered the sequels, Acorna's Quest, Acorna's World, and Acorna's People. The characters were very well written, though some were better developed than others, and the plot was adventurous and moving. I wouldn't call it an excellent book, but I'd read it again with pleasure and recommend it to anyone looking for a good read.

Summary: WOW!
Review: That's all i can say. just WOW!...this is an amazing story about a group of space miners find a pod floating through space, and when they open it they find a little girl inside of it. They name her Acorna, and she lives with them for several years, but is growing too fast for comfort. After a time, they learn about certain special powers that Acorna has. They have many enemies out on the various planets, and they have to fight to keep Acorna with them.

Summary: It wasn't horrible, but didn't quite cut it, I suggest....
Review: I was dissapointed. Anne McCaffery usually had such exciting story and unraveling of an adventure. The characters were good, but I had the urge to stop reading the book half way through. I have not read any of Margaret Ball's work but I suggest that Anne McCaffery go back to writing by herself. I enjoyed her other books very much and suggest anyone who is thinking about buying this book to check out a book about Pern, for all of you who are already Pern-aholics I am sorry to say you will not find such excitment here.

Summary: Entertaining Reading For A Rainy Afternoon
Review: This book kept my attention from start to finish. It stars an orphaned alien "unicorn" girl found adrift in a space pod by a group of bachelor space miners. Some have complained that Acorna is not flawed enough to be believable, but she really isn't human. In fact, she is exactly the kind of pure creature, protector of innocents, the unicorn is fabled to be. And, like the unicorn, she is a static character who causes great changes in all she meets. Many of the futuristic touches were truly inspired.

Summary: A great book
Review: I just finished the paperback of this book. As usual, Anne has written a great book. It started a bit slow, but as usual, all the pieces of the puzzle came together beautifully.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Interesting
Review: A excellent book with just the right amount of suspense. The uncle of one of the men who rescue her, is an amusing character. He wants to "collect" Acorna to add to his collection of unusal things. What happens is most interesting.
