Summary: Stunning!
Review: My well worn paperback of TLD says all that needs saying about this amazing book. I weep for the future of sci-fi/fantasy if TLD is not brought back into print. Dan: This story is a gem. Don't give up on us; we're not going anywhere.

Summary: Excellant book! What has become of the Duology promised?
Review: One of my favorite sci-fi books of all time. Very imaginative and engrossing.

I have reread The Last Dancer many times since I first purchased it ~5years ago. The 'about the author' section of the book said Moran was working on a Duology about Trent. Is it available in any form? What happened to the author?

Summary: Only complaint is that I can't find the sequel
Review: One of the Christmas traditions in my family (all avid readers, and most sci-fi fans) is to give each other books. About 4 years ago, back when I would've been 14, along with the usual Michael Crichton and Orson Scott Card paperbacks, I got a paperback copy of The Last Dancer. Once I started reading it, I couldn't stop, and finished in only 3 days.

I think the main appeal of this book to me is that so far, it seems to be the most richly detailed vision of the future that I've ever read. I would say the most realistic, but Neal Stephenson's "Snow Crash" takes that prize, but just barely. In a major mistake, I lent it to someone after only reading it once, and never saw it again.

I have since been unable to find another copy (I was able to find Emerald Eyes, which I liked, but not as much). Overall, "The Last Dancer" ranks up there as one of the 4 most thoroughly enjoyable b! ooks I've read, right along with "Snow Crash" (Neal Stephenson), Ender's Game (Orson Scott Card), and Jurassic Park (Michael Crichton).

As an aspiring writer myself, I would kill to be able to write something as complex, yet fascinating, as The Last Dancer. Hopefully, I'll be able to someday find a copy of it and it's predecessors. END

Summary: A personal connection
Review: Since I have known Daniel since he was about 19 and we began a correspondence, it is hard for me to be objective about his books. However, after spending most of my reading life enjoying science fiction, I do feel that this book is one of the best -- dense plot, intricate characters and a stirring story. Of course, it helps a little that Daniel used me for one of the personnas that Denise uses ... I really am Erika Muller from Bay Shore and I do have auburn hair and green eyes. My little piece of the "15 minutes". By the way, if anyone has heard of Daniel's whereabouts, I would be greatly interested in hearing. We have lost touch since he moved to New York and I haven't heard from him in ages.

Summary: Best Book I've ever read
Review: The Long run is the most engrossing book I have ever read. I've pulled out all stops to find The Last Dancer and Emerald Eyes but have met with failure. If your reading this and know how to find a copy of any other books by Moran please mail me!

Summary: HOW COULD YOU CALL THIS LIFELESS!?!?
Review: The Publishers Weekly editorial review shown by Amazon.com is SO far from the mark! A lifeless story this is not!

Having been a great fan of Dan's work and gone to extreme lengths to obtain copies of all his works, I can honestly say that The Last Dancer (tLD) was a great book! It was poignant story filled with love, hope and in some places, humour.

This ongoing story of the last of the Castanavera's children is another riveting read in the detailed world crafted by Dan which many of us have found and love.

I wholeheartedly recommend not only this book, but the entire Continuing Time Series (if you can find them all!) to anyone who loves GOOD Sci-Fi!!

To my mind, the success of a book is shown in how available it is in second hand shops. I know from experience how hard it is to find Dan's books secondhand! Everyone who has read them, refuses to part with them! I have to fight to get mine back when I lend them to friends... What better recommendation than that can you ask for?

Summary: Three books so far but where is number four?
Review: The third book in the "Continuing Time" Saga was great. The only problem I have is that it was written and published nine years ago and the much awaited and promised sequel dealing with "Trent the Uncatchable" has never materialized. I believe it will be the "AI War" which is listed in the latest reprint of "Emerald Eyes" but thus far there no listed publication date.
This book however, was fantastic the twists seem to be neverending and the ongoing list of characters from Camber Tremodian and the Storyteller, to Deniece Castenvaras herself is just mind blowing. The fact, that being a "history" of a Time War that has been ongoing for centuries the book is filled with aradoxes only makes it more interesting.
In light of the current status of the world and technological developments, the storyline is not that far off. Of course we are still centuries behind the developments in technology portrayed, thanks mainly to the debilitating effect of the almighty bribe which all of our hypocritical leaders denounce but readily accept. In this work we find colonies on the moon and other planets which shouldn't be that great a job for the technology that took us from Kitty Hawk to the moon in 3/4 of a century but has been unable to go any further thanks to Oil industry bribes which have delayed technological developments of alternate energy sources and modes of transportation. Still the work does show the true machinations of goverment which has always been rule by the corrupt on behalf of the weathy/jrs

Summary: I am a 42 yr old sci-fi addict. One of the very best ever.
Review: This book gets my highest personal rating: "periodic re-read"!! I loved it! The density, the length, the story, the everything! Other reviews say it just as well. 11 out of 10.! I'm just ecstatic to learn that the other Tales of the Continuing Time exist! ( I didn't KNOW! those others are what they are) I am on my way to the bookstore RIGHT NOW!

Summary: One Of the Ultimate Books of All Time
Review: This book is so good I just cannot say. I am an AVID & VORACIOUS consumer of sf....I read this book every year....I FINALLY found The Long Run...while not as good ( how could it be?) I have no complaints as a prequel.....WHY IN THE WORLD IS THIS SERIES OF BOOKS SO DIFFICULT TO OBTAIN.....I'D BUY 5 OF EACH !...WHERE ARE THE REST OF THEM...WHY DO OTHER BOOKS GET RE-RELEASED & THEY DON'T EVEN HOLD A CANDLE !....Pardon me, it's LIKE that! This book is around a 25 on a scale of 1 to 10. It is so very dense. I LOVE THIS BOOK.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A fast paced romp through an unusual apocolyptic world.
Review: This is an excellent series of books. Starting with _Armageddon_Blues_ and coming full hilt to _The_Last_Dancer. Daniel Keys Moran has built a wonderfully detailed world, where very little is as it seems. His characters are very realistic, slightly different in each book.
