Summary: The best book i ever read!
Review: I owned this book since i was about nine and i've read it about 20-30 times, it never gets old. it isn't anywhere near my usual genre as i much prefer horrors but this really was the greatest book i have ever read. At first it seemed to be a simple flighty fantasy tale but i soon became too caught up in Duchess, The Dancer, Susie, El Arat and all of the others, i couldn't put it down, the book is so deep and goes onto so many levels, i suppose you have to be a horse liker to appreciate it but having lost it i would love to get hold of it again as the plot and storyline and the bordering on believable fantasy are all so captivating...

Review: I picked this book up at a yard sale for the cover(don't let people tell you they don't judge a book by it's cover) and the story got me hooked. I first read it when I was twelve so I don't think I really understod it completley. There were some strange associations, such as between the visions and current (?) happenings. But even now (after I have read it half a dozen times) I find something else new I had missed. This is a fantatic book to read over and over again.

Summary: Excellant fantasy for horse lovers
Review: I read this book back in the early 90's and I loved it, I unfortunately loaned out my copy and never got it back. I have wanted to find this book again it is a book you can read over and over. I recently found it in hard cover and ordered it at a small fortune but it is well worth it. I will cherish this book and also recently learned of its sequel and will order it now, if it is half as good as the first I will surely love it. I agree that Mary Stanton should write more of these and would also like to see Disney make it into an animated movie.

It has taken me another four years to get it, but I just found a copy and ordered it about half an hour ago. I can not sit and describe it, but it is not a book to pass over as an adult. It's name is strange, but the charaters are so rich and deeply textured. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful stuff.

Summary: The most insightful horse book I've ever read!
Review: Mary Stanton appears to know horses, thier mannerisims and body language as well as thier incrediably individual personalities. As a horsewoman of 30 years I can honestly say, if you want to know alot about what horses are like, read this book. Of course there is alot of fantasy also but mixed nicely with reality of the pecking order within the herd and mannerisms. I don't think I have read a book of this caliber about horses ever! I have to find copies for all my horse lover friends. This book is a must have for anyone who loves and admires horses! I won't loan my copy to anyone and insist it stays within my sight! I hope they put it back on the presses so everyone can enjoy it! My eight year old daughter is mesmerized by it!
