Review: The very best part is when Ozma is returned to her rightful shape. If you like this book (which I'm sure you will) you will also love the other Oz books!

Summary: Less Edge and Bite than the first two in the series
Review: This book was good, but not great. It is the third Oz book that I have read to my four year old son. The first two in the series are full of more adventures, exciting characters and most importantly a frightening villian (The Wicked Witch, Mombi). The book had a good story, but was much more tame. We'll continue with the series, but this book does fall a couple stars short of the first two.

Summary: The Best OZ so far
Review: This is the third OZ book I've read now and I have finally seen a little of what other readers must see in the series. The story succeeds on several levels. Children will enjoy the fantasy of it while adults can see the deeper ironys that abound. In fact, I have read other books that I thought were completely original but now I realize the authors had read Oz! I was happy to read about a couple of new Oz characters teaming up with the old favorites. Like other Oz books, this is a quick read but I plan to read more in the series, just to see what happens.

Summary: Best in the series!
Review: This is truly the best Oz book in the Wonderful Oz series. The tension, adventure and excitement is unmatched in any other book.

Dorothy Gale is re-introduced, after an absence. The character of Ozma, new princess of Oz, is further developed. She comes to Ev to rescue its royal family from the cunning Nome King, along with the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman. Billina, Tik-Tok and the Hungry Tiger are all new characters and the Cowardly Lion also makes an appearance.

This is a book that I couldn't put down for about a week. Baum changes the villain to a nome, instead of witches as he used in the previous two books. It shows Ozma as a vulnerable girl rather than a powerful fairy. Even she cannot escape from the Nome King's trap.

And finally before I forget, the Princess Langwidere... hilarious :D

Summary: The best of a great series
Review: Though I first read this book nearly 50 years ago, it still remains one of the best books I have ever read. Adults may feel that it is a kid's book, and of course it is perfect for kids, but believe me, it can be enjoyed by people of any age. All you need is love of a good story. For many years Ozma was my heroine--I dreamed that I would meet her somehow, somehow be transported like Dorothy to the Land of Oz. Though these dreams faded, I still often think that this book might be the favorite book of my life. Dorothy's new adventures, the rescue expedition from Oz that crosses the Deadly Desert, and the spooky confrontation between good and evil in the caverns of the Nome King. The Oz characters have accompanied me through life. Try them---you will never forget them.

Summary: Suchisman's Review
Review: Though The Wizard of Oz is a beloved classic, the utter popularity of Baum's work has blinded the public to just how rare a talent this man actually was. Ozma of Oz would be seen as a great work of literature but for the fact that it was a best selling childrens book. It is every bit as bizzare as Raymond Roussel's "Impressions of Africa", & Baum was doing this AGES before his more seriously taken European counterparts. It's loaded with imagery both charming & creepy--- talking hens, an evil princess with a room full of living severed heads, a race of men with wheels instead of hands--- stories so strange that no one today has matched them. Baum concocted these tales purely to amuse the children who hung out around his general store. His wife suggested he write them down, and suddenly, rather late in life he became a bestselling author. Ozma of Oz is the basis of the Disney film "Return to Oz", a movie that Roger Ebert warned would give children nightmares. Indeed. The actual book is far stranger still.

Summary: A wonderful story in the Oz chronicles
Review: When I first read this book(More years ago than I want to admit)I was amazed that L.Frank Baum had written more about Dorothy and Oz.I loved Billena, the Nome King,Ozma and the Royal Family of Ev.I was so happy to see old friend Scarecrow,Tin Woodman and Cowardly Lion-and realized the Hungry Tiger was an excellent comrade to the Cowardly Lion. This is a must for all who wished there was more to The Wizard of Oz.
