Summary: Worth reading!
Review: I read "Sword-Dancer" three years ago, and while I don't remember the book vividly, I do recall enough to assure you that it is a decent fantasy book, its sexist pig hero notwithstanding. And I am a girl--or should I say "woman", I am eighteen?--so you can trust me on this. Yes, you may be offended by the blatant chauvanism at the beginning, but it DOES get better! And Tiger, the male protagonist, slowly but surely learns that women are more than second-class citizens. Heck, he could hardly NOT change, considering his fabulously capable female partner, Del. Read the book

Summary: Well, I thought it was GOOD!
Review: I read Sword-Dancer RECENTLY, and I liked it. So you can't justify my opinion as faded memory! Yes, Tiger was a sexist pig, but yes, he DID change (and he changes even more in the later books--yup, I liked it enough to read the three sequels!!) I thought it was a great idea to tell the story from the point of view of a (somewhat) unlikeable hero. It demonstrated even more what Del was up against. And I grew to like Tiger after a while! (By the way, I am female!

Summary: Amazing Series
Review: I really enjoyed this book, well the whole series as far as that goes. The magic Mrs. Roberson makes up is truly unique and fun to read about. Mrs. Roberson is truly a gifted writer and I recomend this book to everyone.

Summary: unrealistic, even if it is fantasy
Review: I remembered this book when I first picked it up when I was about 15 and I thought it was a decent read. Well I reread two years later and I would have to say that I had to rephase my opinion of it. For one I remember in "Sword Dancer" (a book I havn't read in a long time) that I remember 'Tiger' training pregnant women... Now I know many women are probably going to take offense to this but yes women can be trained in combat however when its freezen cold out and their pregnant and training with swords? Sounds like this author never read any books on combat or strategy. Also Dels whole being consumed with vengence is rather over done, maybe she should have put more elements in the story line then spend so much effort with Tigers relationship with Del which I never got really.
Now some people may think I am being rather sexist with some of these statements but in truth I am just giving out my own personal dislikes about this series. If you wan't fantasy that is great and doesn't just have swords in it; (which are way over rated in my opinion, why don't any of the charactors wield axes?) then read George R.R. Martin's "A Song Of Ice And Fire" a far better read and with realistic charactors. Not all the females are stronge and niether are all the male charactors stronge.
I'm sorry niether Tiger nor Del are all that interesting of a read because for one they are way too powerful and way to good in so called swordsmanship which sounded more like some romantic nonsense.
I never really understood why feminists are so fanatical about strong female charactors. After all a good writer never makes his or her charactors stronge based on there sex but rather makes weak charactors just as interesting as the supposedly stronger charactors.

Summary: Loved the whole series!
Review: I started this series in the middle, and after I finished the second book had to get the other three! It took me six months to find the first book, and I have to say it was worth the wait! It has lots of what I love to read: the characters grow and change, they aren't static and dull throughout the whole series. It's a love story, with each person having faults (realistically, you wouldn't expect two people to NEVER fight would you?) and bringing their own unique skills to the relationship. There's adventure, without too much dependence on magic. The hero isn't a wizard, nor is he perfect... which is what makes him realistic! Now I just HAVE to get the newest book... have been waiting for eight LONG years for another one, and was just about to conclude that it wouldn't happen! if you like your books to be Black and White, Good vs. Evil, where the weather is always perfect, the hero has no faults, and everything is wrapped up with a nice "And they all lived happily ever after." DON'T read this book! If you want your fantasy with realism, read it and enjoy!

Summary: An excellent book!
Review: I think I can honestly say that this is one of the top ten books I have ever read. I was enthralled by the wonderful plot and couldn't stop reading. I finished it in one night. The characters are deep and the story rings true. It is a truly noteworthy book.

Summary: A great comparison between magic and skill
Review: I thought that the book was great. It gives you a cross between loyalty and commitment that is truely one of a kind. It is the best book that i have read in a long time.

Summary: How can *anyone* not love this book
Review: I've read the book *twice*. I can't help but break into grins and laughter as she presents situations. I love it. She (The author) is incredibly astute in her ability to present the male perspective. I can't tell you how many times I've made wife stop and listen to a paragraph or two. Jennifer - you the woman. :) I can't wait to read Sword Breaker and Sword Born.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Not brilliant but great reading and great fun
Review: If you can ignore the lousy cover illustration, and the old cliche of the sexist male warrior traveling with the competent female warrior, then you'll probably enjoy this book, and if you like books that deal a lot with gender-issues, you'll definitely enjoy it. Employing fine detail, Roberson creates a pretty vivid world and invents a few interesting cultures, and there is some good action and unique romance. If you're a diehard feminist or chauvinist, then stay away, but if you

enjoy a lot of character interaction and are willing to see both the man and woman often humiliate themselves and one another, read on.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Not your standard fantasy read
Review: If you have ever tried to write a series of novels from the first person perspecitve then you may be able to appreciate what Roberson did with these books. Overall i give it a thumbs up. The relationship between tiger and del and how it evolves, changes, suffers, and flourishes kept me reading. If you are looking for something to amaze and astound you then read the Torah or something. If you just want entertainment and to look into a world that took time to create and characters that have a decent amount of thought behin them then go for it. All of the novels of the series are very fast reading and you should be able to read all 5 or so in a couple weeks.
