Rating: Summary: Major Disappointment Review: Extremely simplistic development of character and plot. The technical/chemical detail involved in genetic research was so overwhelming it seemed to be a disguise for the shortcomings mentioned above. I am a fan of the Left Behind series, a genre new to me, so this is my first, and last, Bill Myers book. Given the premise this could have been a fascinating book, but was instead extremely disappointing.
Rating: Summary: A LOOK AT THE NOVELS OF REVELATION Review: I am a very big fan of novels that deal with the Biblical Apocalypse and, with so many different types, thought it would be worthwhile to give an overview of the ones I have read.
Left Behind, by Tim Lehay- The series that started it all. These novels are, in truth, somewhat boring, but it covers the bases with a depth that none of the others do, probably owing to the fact that there are so many of them. They lack character development and deep theology, but are a fun, if shallow read
The Christ clone Trilogy by James Beauseigneur- Well written novels that focus on the scientific and political. Tom Clancy meets Left behind is not too far off the mark. I greatly enjoyed these books although I felt a little let down by the ending. Overall, a good political take on the End.
We All Fall Down by Brian Caldwell- Certainly the most controversial of these novels. The focus here is the individual and why someone would ever in their right mind reject salvation. Very brutal, although probably more realistic, in its depiction of the End. This is certainly not a book for the timid, but for the rest, I found it the most intelligent, well written, and, oddly enough, spiritual of the bunch. It's hard to walk away from this book with feeling to need to take a fresh look at one's own relationship to Christ.
Blood of Heaven, by Bill Myers- These are intelligent, character focused novels. I found the theology again to be a little weak, but really enjoyed following the distictive characters.
The Last Gentile Trilogy by Cary Bybee- Better written than Left Behind, but lacking the scope of that work. Like conquest of Paradise or Christ clone, it it based in science, but perhaps too much. Not enough religion for my taste.
Rating: Summary: Very good charatcer development but concept turns silly Review: I found the development of the main character and the incremental changes in his personality facinating. The plot, however, becomes down right silly as we learn that the bad guys want the gene to make their soldiers more bloodthirsty and heartless. The simple question here is, why would ANYONE think such extreme measures were necessary. Did Hitler need genetic engineering to persuade the SS to do his bidding. Did Stalin or Idi Amin? History is a record of man's inhumanity to man, and man's heart has never been known to suffer from a shortage of evil.

Rating: Summary: Awesome book! Review: I purchased this book many years ago thinking I would just read it because I was bored. This book was so great I couldn't put it down. Blood of heaven is the book that introduced me to Bill Myers writing. I love his books. He is an awesome writer! You won't be disappointed!
Rating: Summary: As a Christian book it is a flop, generally an ok read Review: I read this and was kept entertained, but if you are looking for a Christian book that will fill you with fire and inspire you to become a better Christian - go and buy a Frank Peretti book.If you are looking for an entertaining book with a vague Christian content, then this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: REALLY REALLY SPIFFY!!! Review: I truthfully loved this book. It had a, awsome plot. What made it a little hard for me was that im 14 and the reading was a little hard, but I got the hang of it. I like how (in the beginning) that it states 3 torally different scenerios and they all come together in the end. Very origional!
Rating: Summary: Characterization of Heaven Review: I wanted to review this book because it is probably my favorite Christian book. I am a Christian, but I read almost a hundred percent secular books because most of the Christian stuff just isn't good enough, but this book is another one of the huge exceptions. Don't let the other reviews confuse you. This is not really that much about Jesus' blood, but about inner conflict. I don't want to spoil the story line so I will leave it at that. The highest point of this book is Characterization. The characters felt so real I it was like they were really alive, and I was watching their drama. This is an excellent book. I would recommend it even if you are of the secular audience.

Rating: Summary: Great Plot But Weighed Down With Research Data ... Review: I'm a BIG fan of Michael Crichton and John Grisham, as well as Frank Peretti. So when I first read this book's title, I was intrigued. The story moved well, I thought, and the plot line fantastic (imagine the blood of Jesus Christ coarsing through your veins!!), but the research Mr. Myers had to do for the book weighed down the story with all the details he put in. It's the kind of mistake that your English teacher told you in school when a writing assingment was due: too many specifics tend to bog down your story. this was the case with Blood of Heaven. It also seemed to me to have been unresolved at the end. I wasn't sure if Myers wanted his readers to leave with the impression of a seuqel. The main character came off as a wimp before the geneticist, Murkowski, and overall, the book was on the negative side. Otherwise, great plot, though.
Rating: Summary: Sequel Review: I'm really grateful for the reception both "Blood of Heaven" and "Threshold" have received. Lots of folks have been writing and asking if there will be a sequel to one or both. I'm pleased to say, yes. It is called "Fire of Heaven" and will bring together the characters from "Blood of Heaven" and from "Threshold." Thanks.
