Rating: Summary: THE best book out there! Review: This is the greatest book I have had the pleasure of placing my hands on. I have read over a thousand books and this tops them all. From page one to the end I was loving every minute. It was so good I almost thought it was real. I really dreaded the end but it was worth it. If you need something to amaze you this is it. Mr. Mark Fabi I am looking foward to a sequal.
Rating: Summary: A must have for all computer junkies!(or just you) Review: From the first page of the book I was hooked on it. I love how Fabi mixes in love and computers in one book. I bet that was very hard to do. The book also explanes itself when there are comp. terms that maby some people don't know. I think that anybody could read this book and understand every word thay read. I know that this is one of the best tech age computer books that I have had the joy to read. THANK YOU MARK FABI.
Rating: Summary: Well, It's hard to be fair.. Review: Yeah, yeah. Wyrm gave some laughs, especially at the MUD parts. But it was not exciting, not interesting and certainly not remarkable. I found the later parts pretty good, but the plot was so ordinary, the character was flat and I always knew where the story was going. My advise is: Don't do as me. don't buy it. Because I for certain will not read any more hacker novels. Wyrm scared me away from those.
Rating: Summary: This was a awsome book! Review: I think this was a really good book... it had all the stuff I am interested in. Hacking; Virus's; RPG's and other stuff. He really put a lot of good true info in the book... - Fire~Matrix
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've ever read Review: I don't have much to say, just that I found this book thoroughly enjoyable. I don't understand that 1-star review below. I thought the characters were all very unique and the plot was intelligent and involving. Yes, some of the computers and software are beyond 1999, but those that are (like that neural interface) are all involved in secret government works, so we wouldn't have them anyway. All in all, I think Mark Fabi did a fantastic job on this book and I hope to see more from him in the future.
Rating: Summary: Really makes you think Review: I loved this book because it throws all of these really cool explanitions to religion, human nature, and other if lifes mysteries. It is also a really cool sci-fi and an easy read. Mail me with input if you like
Rating: Summary: Easily the best book I've ever read. Review: Okay, let me say one thing. This book was awesome. Mark Fabi makes an awesome debut with Wyrm. I hope he dishes out more of this. Wyrm was the best book I've evr read. It was a perfect blend of modern technology and role playing fantasy. I can't think of any better way to combine the two elements than through a MUD. The quest parts of the story are very entertaining. This book easily tops my list. I reccomend Wyrm to anybody looking for a good time. And Mr. Fabi? Please don't stop here.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've ever read Review: I just have to say it is one of the best books I've ever read in my life. And thats over 300-400 books easily. It has viruses, hackers, Muds, fantasy, great charcters, and and GREAT plot. I can easily say that anyone who considers this book dull or uninteresting should have a catscan or be smacked in the head with a bat.
Rating: Summary: Great for those looking for a complicated, intellegent plot. Review: This is a great book. It deals with the incorporation of a sentient computer and what would happen if it was introduced into an unknowing society. There are so many things going on a different levels, even an extremely difficult crossword puzzle that they have to solve (which you can too, the answers are in the back of the book). There are many interesting subjects, conscience, meme plagues, sentience in general, and many human and computer intellegence ideas. It makes you think and view humans in a differnt light. Well enough of the technical, its also very funny. Half of the time I was laughing so hard I almost passed out. I've read the book four times and I'm finishing reading it my fifth time now.
Rating: Summary: A mess Review: When I bought it I thought i would love this book, it had it all; apocalyptic visions, sentient computers and roleplaying. It was an easy read, but when I was finished, I was left feeling empty. In my opinion the only good part was the thoughts of sentience as a virus. The characters in the book were all one-dimensional, and the story had huge inconsistencies. In the middle of the book, Fabi suddenly introduces a way of connecting to the internet like the one in Neuromancer. I believe this is rediculous. This is next year! Even if these interfaces existed, the internet would not have the bandwidth to support them, even the computers themselves would not be fast enough. The way Dworkins game translates text into a fully immersive expirience is also redicolous. The large section of the book where the characters alter egos explore Roger Dworkins mud is also rediculous and mocks serios roleplaying. In the game, all the characters do is collect magic swords and fight AD&D monsters Fabi hardly bothers describing. The connection between Roger Dworkin and Bill Gates as well as Macrobyte and Microsoft is hardly original. This book was a huge disappointment for me. Mark Fabi tries to write about everything at once, therefore the book becomes a huge mess.
