Summary: Not bad in itself, but...
Review: ...Most glaringly, it contradicts events earlier in the story - I'm thinking about the scene with Eladamri and the Oracle, where he appears never to have met her before. This is the same Oracle he was fighting alongside throughout Stronghold; he's next to her on the Awakening art. The characters are distinct, but a little two-dimensional in some instances - Crovax, previously a complex and tormented character anguished over what he was becoming, is now just a violent brute, while Ertai's arrogance has been taken to comic extremes in order to make his part in the story work. Nonetheless, this is for the most part a well-developed story with some interesting plot developments and it's nice to see Rath depicted in an appropriately dark way.

Summary: Gripping and powerful, the best novel I've ever read
Review: I can honestly say that this is the single best book that I've ever read. Ender's Game was pretty awesome, Animal Farm was okay, but this book REALLY played with my emotions. It's NOT about choosing a new Evincar of Rath. It's about what happens to good people who get trapped in bad situations and are forced to choose the lesser of two evils too many times. Crovax, once a haunted and noble person, has completely lost his sanity and his humanity. Ertai's mind and body become increasingly corrupted by black mana. Belbe must choose between her duty and her conscience. Eladamri believes he must kill what his daughter has become. Greven il-Vec, who we all thought was a traitor to his people and totally heartless evil dude, is revealed to actually have a sense of honor and morality - he doesn't like the evil things that he is made to do, but he'd rather do them and stay himself than be corrupted by the illusion of power. And all of this is wrapped around a very tender and realistic love story between Ertai and Belbe. Filling in the gaps, we are treated to a huge level of interesting detail about Rathi politics, Phyrexian science, and Mogg wafers.

Basically, Nemesis combines the tragic, emotional power of Requiem for a Dream with the sheer dark awesomeness and attention to detail of The Chronicles of Riddick. It is NOT to be passed up.

Summary: Works for me
Review: I definately liked this one a lot. I did have a hard time relating the storyline to the card set though.

Summary: Good Author, bad topic...
Review: I have played Magic for over 5 years, since Ice Age and before. I stopped after Stronghold came out. Overall, I know the entire storyline up until the end of Gerrard leaving Rath. Now about the novel. I know Paul B. Thompson, he wrote several dragonlance novels. This book unfortunately, does not live up to the reputation of his others. First of all, the entire idea of the novel, the Phyrexians need a new evincar, they dispatch Bilbe to appoint a new one is fine. However, the Phyrexians then proceed to turn Crovax into a mindless killing machine, who feeds off death, and grows insanely powerful throughout the novel.

On top of the ludicrous notion that anyone could defeat Crovax, we see Ertai. Ertai happens to be the only other candidate for Evincar, though he has absolutely no chance from start to finish of winning the Evincarship. Constantly, the author adds in little tidbits of information, such as Ertai's transformation, that have absolutely no significance to the actual story. I understand that Paul was trying to fulfill the storyline of Magic, but he still had some "artistic license" with the novel.

Next we come to the end of the novel, and I have to say that the huge ammount of plot twists confound me. Its as though Paul could no longer find a worthy ending to the book without adding things in at the end. The sudden appearance of certain characters that were hardly ever mentioned, and who never gave clues to their existence (and who end up accomplishing nothing), annoy me to no end. Overall, I hope that this was not truly a part of the Magic: the Gathering storyline, and that Paul was just adding his own say into the novel.

Summary: Good single story, dissappointing to series
Review: I liked the writing, plot, and overall story of Nemisis, it's just that I thought the next book would be about Gerrard, and maybe Urza. Also, in the back of one of my magic books it shows that this book should have been of a different title and storyline.

Summary: One of the best books.
Review: I think this is one of the best books I have ever read, the reson is because the author makes you feel like you are in the story whatchin what is happeing. And how he makes the people in the story so real. Well those are my thoughts.

Summary: Good Book
Review: I though this book was really good but there are some other magic books that are as good or better

Summary: A great book.
Review: I wrote in about the book Bloodlines, also saying what a good book Nemesis is. Here I am again, talking only about Nemesis. I can sum this book up in one word: AWESOME! It has great detail, telling about Ertai's problems in Rath after he was stranded there. And about Crovax, hoping to become the new evincar since Volraths' dissapearence. Plus a new character, Belbe, who is a judge on who will become the new evincar, Ertai or Crovax. But I can't tell the whole story, so read it for yourself!

Summary: Chilling...
Review: I've read three magic books, the Rath and Storm anthology, Mercadian Masques, and Nemesis, and I can honestly say this is the most depressing one I've read of the three. Don't get me wrong, it's a great book, it will keep you guessing until the end. This book will also bring an end to a very important character, so if you're a fan of the series the book is a must. I just found what happened at the end of the book extremely creepy and disturbing, I won't ruin the ending for anyone who hasn't read it, but people who have, you know what I'm talking about. The book leaves things looking very bad for Weatherlight and all of Dominaria.
