Summary: It's alright.
Review: It is an interesting perspective looking through the eyes of a minor villian like Malik. It was very humorous but I don't think the author captured the feel of the Forgotten Realms.

Summary: Crucible
Review: My largest problem with this book is that it is told through the words and deeds of a follower of the wicked god Cyric - and Cyric is by far one of the most despised characters I have ever come to know in any series of novels. Why, then, would I want to read a book where the heroes of the first books are referred to in ignorant insults? And in the first moments of the book, characters from the previous book are cut down without much thought, and that bugs me. I did not care for this novel at all, and it's a shame, because Mr. Denning has talent - the Prism Pentad series, for example! Now those I can recommend! But alas! I cannot, and will not, suggest this, even to fans of the books that have come before.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Many plot twists to keep you guessing what will happen next
Review: So many subplot stories that make the book whole. You want to cheer for Mystra and Kelemvor, but Cyric and the other gods put in good points for their mistakes. Great interaction between mortals and gods and shows how important a mortal can really be.

Summary: Great story and an even better format.
Review: The format of this book alone made it worth reading. I found it quite refreshing to read an epic tale from the first person view of the bad guy, particulary a bad guy who happens to be a minion of the God of Madness, Lies, and other assorted nastiness. It allows the reader to get inside the warped mind of a hopelessly irrational man and explore how he sees the world. Another thing I like about this novel is how Denning depicts godhood, which isn't easy to do. How do you write a character who is omniscient and staggeringly powerful. Denning gives his god characters all of this while also giving them human desires and human failings so that they seem real to the reader. A fast-paced and excellent read.

Summary: Totally insane, I love it!
Review: The new idea of using the first person as a narrator doesn't seem great, but it really is when you realize he's on the evil side! For once the good guys get practically crushed, it almost feels good, and it was almost sad to see Mystra and Kel.. well I won't say more 'cause I won't spoil, but they formed one of my favorite couple. Well, even I recognize it was a great idea. Malik is hilarious in his descriptions of "Oghma the thieving, unknowning god" and "Mystra the Harlot". I never read the Parched Sea, but I believe I will because Ruha intrigued me. Good work Troy, much better than the Twilight Giants trilogy (which wasn't bad, just a lil stale). Mask and Cyric the Mad rule.

Summary: The others were better...
Review: There is not much to say. I do not think this deserves to be a sequel to the Avatar trilogy. Compared to those, this is boring, inconsistent and ridiculous crap. Seen as a separate book (not in any real way connected to the afore mentioned trilogy) it is rather good.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A must read
Review: This book is the most amazing fantasy book I have ever read. I loved the first three books of the Avatar series, 4 was good. But this, it takes the cake without question.

The intrgue created and the complexity of the trial allows you to see who the great powers really are. You can see at times, they are quite human and at times blind to anything that is not them.

I couldn't put this down and the last 20 pages made my heart jump out of my chest. I didn't want this one to end. That is for sure.

Summary: ...nuff said
Review: this book was not only a waste of time, it was also a big waste of money, and a big waste of the author's talent. Read something else. Trust me on this one.

Summary: Maddness at it's best
Review: This novel unfolds the truth about Gods of Forgotten Realms. A reader will learn the history powers allies and true nature of each of the gods. That alone is reason enough to read it. But I feel that the most important things about this story is the point of view it's told from. A mad man, one lost in the love of his own God but not because of faith but because of power he will receive for staying in his favor. As you read this novel feel yourself as a mad man would. Cyric is the God of madness and for that reason the story is being told by a mad man. This allows the reader to truly see and feel what we will never (hopefully) feel in our lives and more importantly what Cyric truly feels. Read this novel if you true want to understand what goes on in the forgotten realms but even more importantly, when a God goes mad.
