Rating: Summary: OK Review: This book was like a pause between the fifth book and the seventh. Reads fast. Same characters. You can not put it down. All of the Left Behind series from the first book to The Mark could have been condensed into 3, if not 2, books.
Rating: Summary: Christian Fiction At Its Best. Review: Why do I write "Christian Fiction"? Because Tim Lahaye, Jerry B. Jenkins base there work on an idea that has almost absolutely nothing to do with the Bible. They are so far off it is not even funny. And what is even more remarkable is that people actually believe it! Take for example the first verse in Revelation, what does it say? "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:". Tim Lahaye, Jerry B. Jenkins interpret the Bible in a context that has nothing to do with those in Matthew 23! There eschatology of Matthew 24 has nothing to do with the rest of the Bible and the people to whom it was written. Foremost one must know how to interpret the Bible before one reads it. And this must be done by understanding why it was written. The apocalypse has to do with those who killed Christ and an end to the apostasy of the servants of Jehovah. By removing the the ideas of the apostles and Christ bringing us straight into 2000 with a great leap Tim Lahaye, Jerry B. Jenkins have left Jesus and the apostles behind! Rating: Summary: Excellent continuation Review: A horde of 200 million horsemen, visible only to believers, slay a third of the world's population. As they are not visible to non-believers, the phenomenon is blamed on something else. The two witnesses, Eli and Moishe are killed by Carpathia and their bodies are laft to rot. But after 3 days the corpses are gone. Nicolae Carpathia suffers the lethal head wound that is prophecied. This is an excellent series and I recommend it to all. The next book in the series is "The Indwelling" The series remains popular and each subsequent book gains popularity
Rating: Summary: MICHELLE'S REVIEW!!!! Review: I have been wanting to read the Left Behind series for quite some time. I have waited until this summer (2001) and have almost caught up! I have found the books difficult to put down and have read each one in 2 days or less! Assassins was no disappointment! The pace was very exciting and the plot came to a climatic conclusion. I was intrigued by the more human qualities of the Christians - especially Rayford Steele. I feel an urgency to pray and share the gospel more than ever thanks to this series. Fiction is best when it is entertaining and meaningful! Keep up the great work La Haye and Jenkins!
Rating: Summary: This could have been a lot better Review: After reading Assassins, I determined that I will not read any more of these books. This one rehashed too much old material and did not do enough to advance the plot. It was predictable and poorly written. The first book in the series was by far the best. The rest have gone downhill steadily. It seems to me that these have become potboilers...a money machine. It really is too bad, because I would like to be able recommend this series to my non-Christian friends, but I just can't do it. They would never again listen to a recommendation from me.
Rating: Summary: Great, but not the Best Review: "Assassins" isn't the best book of the "Left Behind" colection, but is moving, and make us think about the christian values in a situation like facing the own face of evil.... I expected something more of this book, because of what I have felt with the others (except Apollion), but like them it let us desiring to read the next one, to solve a mistery (not so hard to figure out)....
Rating: Summary: Breathless Review: Terrific book. It left me tingling and mentally out of breath. It also left me wanting the next book in the series RIGHT NOW! It is a very exciting look into our future.
Rating: Summary: A very weak start and a strong finish Review: Maybe the previous book spoiled me but Assassins was SO very tedious until maybe two thirds of the way through that I found myself rushing just to get it over with. It dragged and droned with cardboard speeches and a sudden character morph. In any series of fiction a willing suspension of disbelief is needed. I was unable to generate it here. One of the strengths of the series is the possibility that this can happen. It is the thing that made the Exorcist the most frightning movie i've ever seen. This book loses that sense till near the very end. Every writer is entitled to one lemon, hopefully the is Lahaye's and Jenkins only one.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: This series has been excellent! Even my 13-year-old sister has gotten excited about end times and can see how present activities only emphasize the soon return of Christ for his people.
Rating: Summary: Sensationalism Review: Actually, I give this book, and the series, no stars. The best that can be said is that if you enjoy science fiction, you could read it in the same sense that you would read Buck Rodgers. If you are looking for a Biblical view of Christian eschatology, this series is helpful in that it informs you of everything that the Bible doesn't say on the topic. If you are looking for something sensational to read without it being accurate, then here is your "Christian" Buck Rodgers.
