Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: I thoroughly enjoyed the Assasins. It is was an excellent book, and was very well written. It is another exciting book in the soon ending saga of those that were left behind. I have been thoroughly mystified by the entire series. I've found that each time I've begun reading one of the books in the series, I was unable to put it down until it was finished. For me, beginning with Left Behind, right on through the Assasins, has been a fun filled adventure. As I finished each book, I began to eagerly anticipate the release of the next one. The authors have written a series of books that seems more truth than fiction. I could not help but feel that I was living the experiences of the characters. Their joys were my joys, and their sorrows were my sorrows. I feel as though I know each one of them on a personal level. I eagerly await the next book to be released in this delightful series. I would truly like to know when I can expect it. I applaud both Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins for authoring such dramatically exciting, thought provoking, and eye opening books. They have displayed excellence in authorship. I wish them continued success in their quest.
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: This book is a total cliff-hanger. Ok, so everyone who read it knew that. Anyway, the question remains, "who done it." Look for someone you least expected to turn out to be the assasin.
Rating: Summary: Good Reason to Come to Christ Review: I've glanced through many of the reviews of the Left Behind series concerning the Last Days. I think many people have been "left behind" and missed the point. Many readers said to read Revelations instead. Revelations is a difficult book of the Bible to understand. So far this series has followed Revelations with characters and images that make Revelations understandable to anyone. Many people who call themselves Christians are not truly Christians. This gives reason to stop and think about what being Christian is and what the consequences will be. Descriptions of the seal judgments, trumpet judgments and now the bowl judgments in this book are right out of Revelations. The whole series leaves you wanting to read the next book. For people who have difficulty reading the sometimes obscure passages in the Bible, this spells it out so there is no mistake. This was announced to be a 12 book series. Anyone who thinks it needs to be condensed probably should be aware of that before they start reading. I already have my own ideas of who killed Antichrist just by reading the subtle references throughout this book. If nothing else, it has encouraged me to look up the referenced passages in the Bible and decide for myself whether I agree with this interpretation. It's only taken me 3 weeks including Christmas and New Years festivity weeks to read this exciting fast-paced series. It is a fast read. At two books a year, I'm going to be anxiously awaiting the sequels all the way up to 2003 unless Christ raptures his Church and then I'll already know the way it ends.
Rating: Summary: HALF A BOOK! Review: Assassins could have been combined with the last book or with the next one. I know this is a series, but it appears they're attempting to stretch the story out. (I hope it isn't out of greed!) I'll keep reading until the end, I'm looking forward to the next book.A reviewer highly recommended a novel called THE FIST OF GOD, by A.T. Nicholas on this site. Thank you reviewer for bringing that book to my attention , it was one of the best spiritual thrillers that I have ever read! I also highly recomend it.
Rating: Summary: One too many Review: I felt cheated on the last two books. They could have been combined, maybe with the next one into one GOOD book. There is absolutely no point in reading Assassins unless you are going to read the next book. Some might call it a great cliff hanger, I call it half of a book. Definitely a drop off from the first 2 or 3 books.
Rating: Summary: If you like this, here's a better one Review: I just finished the best new millennium book that is far more real and frightening than either Left Behind or Assassins. The Last Day, by Glenn Kleier blows the doors off these other Last Day thrillers. If you want to feel what the REAL Last Day will be like, read The Last Day. I don't know how to describe what it does to you. It creates a real experience that is very moving and stimulating beyond what I've read in either Left Behind or Assassins. It will open you heart and your mind, and it ends with an amazing surprise that is unlike anything I would have anticipated. I just can't say enough about it, it's an unforgettable read.
Rating: Summary: Awesome........Again...... Review: I must say this series of books has gotten me to read once again. My reading time is very limited, yet each time a new book in this series, is released, I can't put it down until I am finished. I would suggest to anyone recieving or buying this book, to begin at the beginning of the series with "Left Behind". The plot and mystery is woven thru each book. This is meat and potato fiction! If you trust in the Bible to be the Truth, it will help you better understand the what ifs of the last days. My hat is off to these authors, giving a wonderful way of showing Bible prophecy, in situations that we all might be in, if not for the mercy of God. Way to go Jerry and Tim!
Rating: Summary: Fascinating subject! Review: I have read all of the Left Behind series of books and am eagerly anticipating the next release. The best things about these books is the subject matter itself, realistic characters (although underdeveloped), and the cliffhangers (these can be frustrating to a reader who likes books with conclusions!) Of all the books so far, I liked Assassins the least--probably due to Rayford's change in attitude and behavior. I find all of the books in this series to be poorly written, underdeveloped, and manipulative of readers who must continue to purchase and read the books in order to get any sense of closure. (I ALWAYS finish what I start, whether or not I enjoy it.) I would like to read more about Chaim and his eventual conversion to Christianity and Chloe's work creating a network for Christians to buy and sell once Carpathia and the Global Community begin limiting Christians' ability to do so. In any case, the subject matter alone is compelling enough to continue reading Assassins and the rest of the series.
Rating: Summary: Assassins (Left Behind #6) Review: First of all, the whole "Left Behind" series has been very entertaining. I could hardly concentrate on anything else. The narrator kept me absolutely riveted. Secondly, "Assassins" started out pretty much like the earlier works. It was exciting and very timely. I am still wondering about the rapture. However, the ending was rather disappointing. You were built to such a crescendo and then you were let down. I was thinking, " Is this it! ". It left me very unsatisfied. However, I must mention, once again, that the whole Left Behind series has been simply magnificent. I hope that there is a book #7 in the making. Thank you, Amazon.com!
Rating: Summary: THIS is the Anti-Christ? Review: For one thing, the man is charismatic enough to conquer the world, enough to convince even the Muslim world to abandon their own exclusive doctirnes and follow him, yet he hardly comes off as powerful. Remember, he's not merely a man, he's a servant of Lucifer gifted with power. But he comes off as bad comedy, along with his side-kick Fortunato and his rebellious false priest, Peter II. The Anti-Christ is a terrifying figure, of whom even Christians should be afraid. Turning him into a clown almost seems to make fun of the End Days. Not something we should expect from believers. In a related note, this flaw is common to the series. Jenkins seems to have no guts to describe the horrors of nuclear war, plague, or (in this book) massacre by dæmonic horsemen. Come on. I will say this book was more violent. The End Days are going to be Hell on Earth, literally, so get some nerve there! Believing in Jesus Christ does NOT mean you have to abandon all scientific reason. The whole idea of a "magnetar" causing the sun and stars to dim is ridiculous. There is no such astronomical phenomenon. It sounds as though they're describing a neutron star, but a neutron star would almost certainly NOT fly into the solar system, nor would it dim the stars if it did. I doubt the authors are foolish, so possibly they think the readers are fools. Or at least, they have no respect for science. This flaw I noted in the previous 5 volumes of the series. This book did have a number of notable moments. I refer to the discussion of encryption technology (which shows me Jenkins is neither stupid nor ignorant) is one. Hearing the Anti-Christ pray to his god gives the chills. The last chapters are a close, and a beginning. I hope that by Book 7, Jenkins loses what inhibitions he may have in describing carnage and possibly studies even basic science before he tries to ridicule it. If you're reading, Mr. Jenkins, I'd like to ask you if embracing Christ means denouncing your reason. Science is the philosophy of reason as applied to the world. That so many people, in the name of Christ Jesus, defend ignorant folly may be the one single factor which disgraces His name in our century. Think about that a little bit.
