Summary: An excellent story with a few technical stumblings
Review: _The Innkeeper's Song_ is, in my opinion, and amazing peace of work, using multiple perspectives to turn what could have otherwise been an interesting story into a vibrant exhibition of character.

The story of TIS centers around the Gaff and Slasher, or rather those who have come to it(three strange and mysterious women to begin with) and those already there (the innkeeper and his stable-boy). It's not an epic battle for the fate of the world, or a romance, or a hack-n-slash fantasy fest. Instead it's a story about people who are drawn together to a relatively insignificant inn in a relatively insignificant town.

The events are told from the perspectives of almost all of the main characters, often as if they themselves were telling a story. While this can lead to some confusion, it makes the story what is is, a three dimensional painting, created by many people, but all showing a single amazing episode.

One of Beagle's best.
