Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Review: I think this book was pretty good, I especially liked the twins Jaina and Jacen. There are four things I didn't like about this book. One, Jaina and Jacen, and Anakin are super smart and they knew more than I do now! They are only five and three and I am much older. Second, I didn't like how Luke was all depressed and weak in this book. Third, I didn't like how everyone was obsessing over how strong Anakin was. Luke and Leia were supposed to be the strongest in the force, because they were the chosen ones. And, lastly I didn't like how the book ended. Other than all those things I thought this book was a great and had a realistic problem instead of crazy far out ones.
Rating: Summary: Star Wars? I think not. . . Review: This book was no where as good as any of the other ones. The plot was lousy and did not fit Star Wars at all. She did a bad job of telling the story. she was repetitive and made Leia act like an overprotectivemother, Han- an abosolute idiot, and Luke- a wimpy, ridiculous off to the side, not very important character. Jaina amd Jaina were portrayed horribly. They were little geniuses that could find a way out of everything and that can figure everything out. The author should have spent more time thinking about how a star wars book whould really be. This isn't Star Wars book, this is a bad book using star Wars characters and twisting their personalities.
Rating: Summary: Star Wars can do better. Review: This is quite simply a book that did not live up to its potential. It started off boring and ended with a dissappointing conclusion. Even though I love Jacen and Jaina, this book really never made me care for either one of them. They seemed stuck up, snooty, and were constantly whining. A friend that they meet, Lusa, is essentially a glorified centaur. This really bothered me, because in Star Wars you would think that an author could manage to think of some half way original creature. Everyone acter uncharacteristically, particularly Luke, who seemed depressed and self centered. Han and Luke's purpose in the story was pretty forgetable, and the bits with Chewie in them were truly abysmal. If I didn't reserve the one star rating for books like the Black Fleet Crisis, or I, Jedi, then I would have rated this book that way. Buy The Courtship of Princess Leia, or Tales from Mos Eisley Cantina instead. You will thank me later.
Rating: Summary: Abysmal Review: This book is tripe, pure and simple. It solidified the feeling in my mind that SW can only be done by Lucas, and no other. Without any kind of fanfare, we leap straight into the plot. Leia's children-who are the usual cute, well-behaved, yet rebellious and over-smart kiddos-have been kidnapped by party unknown. So, naturally, rather than asking the New Republic for help, she bounces out into space with critically-injured Chewie to find her kids. Han and clinically depressed Luke are for some forgettable reason out in the Falcon, and they end up on some backwater planet, where Luke becomes more and more depressed, eventually being drawn into a cult that worships a huge golden blob creature called Waru. The kidnappers of Leia and Han's kids are somehow linked with Waru... This is without a doubt the worst SW book ever. If you want to turn someone off SW, just let them read this book. (For reference, ST fans would retch at the things that happen in this book. Look what she did to the beautiful "Khan"!) The book is 50 pages of plot, stretched over heaven-knows-how-many hundreds of pages. The book compensates by having the characters go off on irrelevent tangents, such as the kids playing with the "dragon," or devoting centuries to coloring Leia's hair and skin, or Han running into an old flame. The villain is the usual child-abusing, wild-eyed cult leader, without a single spark of originality, and I could see his relationship to non-Jedi boy Tigris long before anything was hinted. Luke is suicidal, wimpy. Evidently no SW writer can capture the sweet tang of his personality, and this book reduces him to the usual angsty-idiot hero. Han is shown as being wild and irresponsible, spending the night (I didn't say SLEEPING WITH) an old girlfriend and gambling away the remainder of their money. Leia is virtually nuts, more overprotective than a mother in a bad sitcom. And no lightsabers. NONE. Zero. Zipp-o. The level of coincidence is astounding. Luke and Han JUST HAPPEN to be in the area when the kids are kidnapped. Leia and Chewie JUST HAPPEN to run into the ship with the person they need. You get my point? And the kids? *retch* You should avoid this book at all costs. Never, ever read it, unless you want to start seeing merit in "Battlestar Galactica."
Rating: Summary: There just isn't somthing right here! Review: This book needs serious help. The plot is weak and nothing is what it should be in a Star Wars novel. Luke, suddenly turns into a depressed slob and wants to give his life away. I mean come on. Where is the real Empire not this Empire Reborn or whatever the name of the group of dark jedi was. I never knew Leia had a ship and she just runs away without telling anyone. I can not even count on my fingers how many time the kids have been captured or attempted to be. There just isn't somthing right here.
Rating: Summary: The most confusing Star Wars book I have EVER read! Review: This book stunk, I mean really, and love Star Wars Books! I was so confused I ended up spending 30 minutes trying to understand each chapter. Luke doesn't have a part at all, like he usually does, and neither does Han! I mean, COME ON! It would save some ink just to cut them out. The plot was kind of good but the way she wrote it stunk! She spent half of the book describing how Chewie and Princess Leia look! This book doesn't even deserve a 1/2 star. Lousy waste of money.
Rating: Summary: WHAT'DYA MEAN 0 STARS ISN'T A CHOICE? Review: It sucked. No it REALLY sucked. I could barely get past the second page. The descriptions were borish. The plot was weak at best. Leia behaved nothing like her normal self. She was hiddeously abused in this book, like always. Is it just me or have no authors other then Zahn created even slightly readable versions of the woman. And LUKE oh my GOD Luke. Isn't he supposed to be noble now? Ick. And Han? Don't get me started on Han. Threepio was less annoying and more useful then always. But the descriptions were pathetically annoying. Going over board on the important things, such as planets and stars and views is understandable. But do we really NEED to know all the twists and turns in Leia's hair? She told us everything except how many she has on her head. Next time maybe Vonda should write a book on hair dressing and leave us alone. Seems she's used to Captain Kirk's hair. What really steams me about this book is the fact that people apply HER skills to all womens Star Wars writing skills. Many other people(women included) could have done much better on this book. It has no point to it. Don't bother reading this book it's pathetic!
Rating: Summary: Better than I thought! Review: If you read the reviews, before reading this book, you'd think that it was one of the worst in print. It was really good. Leia finally does something besides argue or go away on a mission. The Luke and Han part is kinda weak, but hey. The part I thought I was going to hate(the Solo children), ended up being OK. This novel is good, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Rating: Summary: At least the cover is nice... Review: Leia and Chewbacca's part of the story was okay, and there was no reason for Luke, R2D2, or even Han to be in this story. There was no reason for a Crystal Star to exist. It was not a Star Wars universe book -- more like Star Trek, with dimension jumping, destroying or healing by a blob worshipped by mindless and hopeful masses, transmogrifications, etc. As much as I admired Carrie Fisher's hair in the movies, I was tired of descriptions of Leia's hair when it was let down, all throughout the book. At once point, I was convinced she was disguised as Cousin It of the Addams Family! I think Han also sleeps with an old flame, but this book was so dull, I think I fell asleep then, and had to be told about that scene by someone else. The part about Hethrir and his wife, their training by Vader and Hethrir's subsequent evils were interesting. But that's about it.
Rating: Summary: Why does luke need 5 year old kids to help him? Review: That is the one fault with this book. I know he was affected by the star but this,Even the little things that the thounbe ate did not do this.Lukes always hurt in some way or other. Why not one book that he dont get hurt in and someone else gets hurt in. On the other hand its great the way the story gets going straight away. Also the twins play a main part in it and this is great.By the way what are hold-fathers.They could be like god fathers, but there is more then one. This book is cool the way Han calls luke A BLOCKHEADED,ARROGANT,JEDI-JEDI KID.One thing why is Han being nice to Mr threep?
