Review: Overall, this is a good read. Han and Leia's kids are described well and given striking personality traits which fit in well with the situation. A-

Summary: Bad writing style, lame villian, fairly good plot
Review: Well, all I can say is, this book was written so simply and childishly that even a seven year old could understand it, and probably only a seven year old wouldn't see that fact sticking out like a sore thumb. It completely spoiled the story for me, at least, what little there was to spoil. I litterally had to force myself to pick it up and read it. Anyway, in this book, (which takes place ten years after Return of the Jedi) Han and Leia's three children (twins are now five, Anakin is three) are kidnapped by evil "Empire Reborn" minions who wish to corrupt there little minds while they are still small and vulnerable. Han and Luke are unaware of this since they are off on some mission and are out of contact. Leia sets out on her own to rescue her children, and once again disguises herself as a bounty hunter so she will be unrecognized (she's now the Chief of State, and recognizable by just about everyone) Meanwhile, Han and Luke run into one of Han's old flames and she leads them straight into the lair of a creature by the name of Waru, some sort of force sensitive blob who has inspired a fanatical following. Han begins to worry about Luke, who is becomeing increasingly withdrawn and generally depressed. Meanwhile, they both begin to discover that Waru is not everything it seems... Anyway, this book could have been excellent, but it's many faults completely ruined it. First of all, how many times are the Solo kids going to be kidnapped? I mean really, I can count at least five times, possibly more, that one of Han and Leia's kids, or all of them have been kidnapped or a kidnapping attempt has been made on them, and that's not even including the numerous attempts on Leia while she was pregnant with the twins in the Thrawn Trilogy! (which are by the way highly recommendable books if you like Star Wars) Enough is enough. Also, I hated the way they portrayed Luke in this book. Rather than being that cute, innocent, blondhaired, kind, yet strong farmboy we all loved in the movies and in better written Star Wars books (Thrawn trilogy, Truce at Bakura, etc) here he is weak, dark, disturbed, selfish, and seems to be in the middle of constant panic attack. Also, a lot of things just weren't explained well enough. For example, what is a Wyrwulf and why is it so important to Mr. Icon (or whatever his name was) and why should I care? Also what exactly is Waru? If leaving this last thing up in the air was this author's idea of leaving a mystery up to me, it was done very poorly. Speaking of Waru, it has to be the lamest villian that has ever scorched the pages of Star Wars fiction. I mean really, a talking, force sensitive blob of goo is supposed to be scary? I have to admit I liked Leia in this book though. For the first time in a long time she showed her toughness when she went against what everyone else said and did what she knew was right for her children. The averedge parent faced with similar circumstances would have completely fallen to pieces and just done what everyone else said. Also, those who have read Young Jedi Knights will be pleased to see the original introduction of Lusa, who a recurring character in the later books of the series. Anyway, I can't say I'd recommend this book to anyone, unless they (like me) are a die hard fan determined to read all the Star Wars books.

Summary: I've had better
Review: Star Wars- "The Crystal Star" is a prime example of childish writing. The novel shows no regard for the basic principals of good writing. The autor uses discriptive words that leave much to be imagined. The grammatical errors present in the script are distracting and take away from the story. The author needs to learn some basic concepts such as: word choice; voice; conventions etc... Don't pay full price for this book! wait until it shows up at a yardsale somewere.

Summary: Why don't you like this book?
Review: I have read a lot of the Star Wars books and this one was my absolute favorite! I don't understand why some people are saying it's terrible. It has a lot of action, but it also has a lot of personal information about the characters. Jacen and Jaina, Leia and Han's twins, are really cute and very smart. The book was funny and also dealt with some very serious stuff, like how Tigris was brainwashed to hate his mother. This was a great book and anybody who likes Star Wars books should definitely read it!

Summary: A poor effort
Review: This was one of the weakest of the star wars books. Hethrir was a bore and the threat to the New Republic was laughable. The book was hardly worth the money.

Summary: Are you people all crazy?
Review: Ok, this book is probably the best Star Wars book ever written. How can you not like it? Ok, it's been for ever since I've read it and I have to again, so i don't really have too amy spacifics on why it's the best.....but you people should just know. I loved the fact that in this you really get to see more of Jania and Jacen than most of the others. But even though i really don't have detals, this book is the best Star Wars book that I have ever read, and that's kinda a lot. And at least this book has a good writer, unlike some.... I mean a lot of books have a great plot (this being one of them) but the auther is awfule (this NOT being one of them). So just....whatever....you people think what you want..... But this will always be my favorite Star Wars book of all time... And I definatly would give this book an 13 out of 10. Thank you.

Summary: thank the maker! no more superweapons!
Review: I liked this book. I think it's great to have a Star Wars book without another Death Star or Sun Crusher or a ton of Star Destroyers. I liked how there was action from page one. I also liked the idea about them getting new identities, but they have to work a little better on it. Luke made me mad during the book. I didn't think he would be that weak after being a Jedi for so long. Han was a different kind of heroic than I was used to him being. I enjoyed Tigris's relationship with Hethrir (which was brainwash) and Anakin's relationship with Tigris(which was braking the brainwash). Jacen and Jaina were okay, but it bugged me that Jaina was so concerned about breaking her parent's rules. I liked how they escaped and they're bluntness. I would recommend this book, it's a pageturner.

Summary: Crystal Star
Review: Review of The Crystal Star The Cyrstal Star is an exciting fast paced book. The book is about an evil warlord that has captured Leia Organa's children. He has taken them to a secret hiding place on an amazing world craft that is the size of a small moon. The book then picks up when Han Solo goes to investigate a strange system for the new republic. When he encounters a mystery he must solve it takes him to the most dangerous places in the system. For example he has to investigate a mysterious alien that is controlling people with his mind. The story climaxes when the evil warlord goes to meet this mysterious alien and is confronted by Han Solo. The story also takes us on a journey with Leia as she tries to find her kids. On the way she encounter, a fleet of ships. On which she discovers a race that was thought to be extinct. Overall I would give this book a rating of four stars out of five. The book is by Vonda N. McIntyre and is 413 pages long.

Summary: Yuck
Review: I have read LOTS of Star Wars books and I usually really enjoy them. This was an exception. The characters were weak and unbelievable. The villians were lousy and the plot left a lot to be desired. This was the worst Star Wars novel I have ever read. Go get yourself a copy of the Zahn trilogy or the young Han Solo trilogy by A.C. Crispin and save yourself the disappointment.
