Rating: Summary: Do Not Be Fooled!!! Review: In quite a disappointing turn, Missler and Eastman have taken one of the most intriguing prospects of our time (the possibility of alien life in our midst) and have turned it into one of the most conniving bits of propaganda that I've seen. While many of the subjects are fascinating and appear at first to be founded in genuine research, only in the final chapters is the authors' intent revealed: to convert the masses to devout Christianity. With such quips as, "If you are about to be abducted by an alien, fall on your knees and praise the Lord," the authors destroy all scientific credibility in the area of UFO's. I'm sorry I was suckered into buying this propaganda pamphlet.
Rating: Summary: Intellectually Stimulating Review: Believe it or not, this book has given me a brand new appreciation of physics! It is a very well written book that explores the "UFO Phenomena" that so many Christians just want to pretend doesn't exist. It is a book that Christians and non-Christians alike can read to obtain a new perspective on this phenomena. I started it skeptically but finished it respecting the author's research, knowledge and willingness to look at the viewpoints of non-Christian and Christan researchers in this field, all the while retaining his integrity as a Christian and as an intelligent being. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in UFO's or the universe as a whole.
Rating: Summary: A truly Biblical and scientific view of UFO phenomena! Review: This book is a great book, unlike many others from a religious or especially 'Christian' perspective that often border on hysteria or stupidity. I heard Mr. Missler speak in Roswell during summer of 1997 and stayed up for 4 hours to hear him on the Art Bell show--one of his best ever. Fundamentalists, bigots, occultists, and atheists may not care for it but the material presented is excellent. Chuck Missler also has a tape series and a video that go into much detail covering the Nephilim. His exegesis is BRILLIANT! I highly recommend this work and I have written reviews of his tape series and book. Email me for the URL to the Web Site I edit, The CRITICAL REVIEW.
Rating: Summary: What a load Review: Missler has pulled the wool over many a Christians eyes in the past. This is another "wooly" story. I would save my money on this one and go get a good CD or some other book, just not this one.
Rating: Summary: A book but unbalanced in certain areas Review: As a Christian I have a great respect for Mr Missler. I am on one of his mailing lists and find that most of his doctrinal positions are in line with mine. I have also read this book and find it to be very intriguing. I do accept the fact that certain aspects of the end time scenarios presented concerning the UFO/abduction phenomena are possible and may in fact happen. I do however believe that the book is unbalanced with regard to what appears to be a blanket acceptance of all UFO/abduction reports as being totally true. Before I became a Christian I was actively involved in what some would call the UFO movement. I was a member of several groups and was actually a volunteer field investigator for one. It was during this activity that I began to slowly realize that the vast majority of these reports that I was investigating were laced with much hyperbole. By the time the original report became part of a written publication it was hard to recognize it from what I had originally heard from the eyewitness. A number of the reports in this book are taken from these expanded second-hand sources. For me this lessens the credibility of Mr. Missler and Mr. Eastmans case. I am not saying that I disagree with the author's belief that UFO's will part of the end time deception. I believe this to be a very real possibility. I am saying that by including every story of a UFO encounter as being totally true is credulous behavior and leaves the authors as well as the entire body of Christ open to criticism. It is not abiding by the Biblical admonition of being "quick to hear and slow to speak" One other area that disturbs me about the book is found on page 329. The statement is made that if idolatry was present up to the previous four generations that a Christian would be open to demonic attack in this area. When I became a Christian I also became an adopted son of God with an inheritance from God. This forever removed the curse of my heathen ancestors which were many. All in all I would recommend this book. It is an interesting addition to any library
Rating: Summary: Excellent!!! A "wake up" call for all children of the King! Review: Respecting the authors, I purchased the book without any review, for my daughter. I have always believed (since excepting Christ twenty three years ago) that the entire UFO/Alien encounter reports were, in most cases "true and demonic". We have, since reading Alien Encounters, encouraged other Christians and "unsaved" to read it as well. This book is a witness to the unsaved and a "wake up call" to God's people. As the Lord forwarned, there is a great deception approaching and we need to be ready when it comes. This is certainly a difficult subject to discuss with some close- minded Christians...give them the book and plant seeds for "thought".
Rating: Summary: A Provocative Account of the Impending UFO Apocalypse Review: Could the UFO sensationalism that has infected the popular media be an insidious deception about to be perpetrated against humanity? Are these extraterrestrial beings a munificent race availing themselves to our decadent world or do they have an agenda that transcends our worst nightmares? Are alien beings truly interplanetary travelers or could they possibly be interdimensional entities from an alternate reality? These questions are thoroughly explored by Chuck Missler and Mark Eastman in this Christianized account of the UFO experience. According, to Eastman and Missler aliens have been frequent vistors to our planet since the beginning of time. Both men go to great lengths to invoke the names of some of the world's foremost authorities (Jacques Vallee, in particular) to reinforce the possibility that these visitors from the sky are in actuality demonic apparitions and disembodied spirits preparing humanity for a monolithic deception that will culminate in the battle of Armaggedon. Whether one is inclined to accept or deny these claims, the most profound aspect of this investigation is the exegetical support. In their interpretation, the authors invest a large amount of effort to Biblical literature, relying on subtlities within the text and ancient authorities of the church as well as Jewish apocryphal literature (The Book of Enoch and Jubilees). The story of procreative activities between demonic entities and humans is the central discussion, and the authors demonstrate that every religious culture has some story or legend intertwined with alien encroachment. If anyone is interested in the similarities of ET stories subsumed into many cultures, the first half of the book is dedicated to the ancient visitations of intelligent life from beyond. Subsequently, the sexual encounters between humans and aliens is a prominent theme in every ancient civilization and the authors explore this as well. Various abduction accounts are enumerated and discussed asserting that most of these incidents are for the purpose of examining the reproductive system of humans. Could this be analogous to the ancient accounts of intercourse? Is a "daemones incubi" a thing of fable or a shocking reality? Unlike some reviewer's analysis, this book does not attempt a dogmatic synthesis but rather presents the evidence in a delicate manner. If someone finds this type of writing intolerable than they should eschew it, however, if you can remain objective to some extent and have the ability to absorb the information you will find this book a very inviting experience. I am amazed at Christians who believe that their Savior could rise from the dead in a manner that defies the laws of nature but are reluctant to accept the supernatural presences and manifestations of demonic activity. I would assume that it is important when claiming miraculous events that you do not delimit the ones that appear unattractive to your arbitration. However, concentrate on the scriptural evidence and the inveteracy of the procreative encounters; this is the premise of the book!
Rating: Summary: They changed my mind! Review: Missler and Eastman took a subject I had never read or cared about and gave it relevance and importance. Well documented and written. I recommend it.
Rating: Summary: A slick fundamentalist bait-and-switch job. Review: As a serious researcher on the psychology of belief systems, I was very disappointed at the deceptiveness of the authors' approach. While they seemingly did a great deal of research, it was selected mainly for its usefulness in their plan to engender fear in order to promote conversions. They even repeatedly stated that the material should make the reader fearful. Please, gentlemen, if you yourselves are so fearful, spare us your hysteria.Material which could well deserve careful and sensitive analysis was instead treated with the utmost credulity, a criticism that has also been leveled at Missler's treatment of the Apocalypse and even the Y2K computer problem (the so-called Millenium bug).
Rating: Summary: Very Insightfull Review: This book offers an insightfull view at the unexplainable occurences in the world. It gives a detailed account of alien encounters for those who dont know much about the topic. It than goes into a well-rounded topical summary of newage thought and deamonality; links everything together in a smooth style, and explains how it all fits into a Biblical view of life. Very creditable literature from two very creditable authors, who deliver their message in a manner that is both informative and interesting, while keeping focus on detail. You won't be sorry you read it, I know I wasn't!
