Summary: An Excellent Examination into the Truth about UFO's
Review: This is one of the few, non-novel, books that I've read that falls into that "hard to put down" catergory! It's excellent! The new agers won't like it though, but that just means it's good! I highly recommend this book to all Christian's who would like some insight into this perplexing phenomena!

Summary: Incredible Research and Fact Finding
Review: Nay sayers are only offended by the Christian point of view. But given all the facts presented, they should be mute. Missler does an excellent job detailing that these encounters are not physical and backs up his findings with detailed reports. The closest I have ever gotten to the truth regarding this subject is this incredible book.

Summary: It's about time someone wrote this book
Review: For a number of years I have been researching the various subjects covered in this book as both a non-Christian and now a Christian and I'm glad someone finally put everything together under one cover and tied them up so neatly. Granted that the end of the book is a plea for non-Christians to see the light, and this fact seems to upset those that don't hold to that faith. However I have read many UFO-oriented New Age books that do the much the same and the outrage is absent. This seems rather hypocritical. Besides,if the authors are correct in their theory, then a decision to begin a relationship with Christ would be the logical decision, if nothing more than for self-preservation! As a serious student of the UFO subject, I found the author's research to be impeccable. Their conclusions are well founded and make sense when one puts all the pieces of the UFO/Alien puzzle together and truly and honestly examines the complete history of the UFO/alien abduction phenomenon. It certainly makes more sense than many of the other new age and secular theories concerning the agenda of our possible "alien" visitors based on their recorded and demonstrated behavior. My only complaint would be that too much important information was only lightly touched upon. There is a lot of information in here that could fill at least another volume of in-depth study. I highly recommend this book to everyone. And doing a little of your own research using the author's well documented sources wouldn't hurt!

Summary: Christian propaganda disguised as Ufology
Review: As a life-time enthusiast of ufo literature and other paranormal phenomena, I was enthralled to read Alien Encounters because of its unique perspective. The Nephilim are only mentioned twice in the bible (that I know of) and few authors other than Zecharia Sitchin have ever given them much attention. So, when Missler and Eastman claimed that ufo entities were indeed the disincarnate spirits of the Nephilim who shape shift and play games on unsuspecting humans, the book took on an interesting angle to the theories of Vallee and Keel. However, I should have become suspicious early on when the authors give no evidence to support their claim that the Nephilim cannot reincarnate. I didn't realize until the very end of the book that this was nothing more than blatant Christian proselytizing. The clincher came in the appendix where the authors claim that beliefs in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Native American religions are demonic. Instead of laughing off such an absurd remark, as I'm sure the Dalai Lama would, I became embarrassed because I had already recommended this book to some colleagues before I had gotten to the final pages. Now, I have to contact these same people again and say "Never mind". However, I still give the book two stars because I was enjoying it up until the end.

Summary: A book that all Christians should read and consider!
Review: I had never heard much of "nephilim" until reading this book. The presentation of material was outstanding and the information was well documented. For any person that has given any thought to aliens and UFO's, especially Christians, this book is a must. The possibilities and probabilities in this book are enough to make any one stop and think. I would encourage everyone to read this and then pass the book on. If this book brings out the truth behind "alien encounters", we should all be prepared. You won't want to put it down til you're finished.

Summary: Great home library book... but where do I file it?
Review: As I read previous reviews, I was bemused by the wide variety of ratings. When people disagree so vehemently about a book, it is almost always worth reading whether one agrees with the authors' conclusions or not.

About three years ago, a co-worker who knew I was a Christian asked if I believed in UFOs, and I gave her a theologically safe, non-committal answer. However, her question got me to investigate this phenomenon more seriously.

I now consider Alien Encounters to be a valuable addition to my research library. In addition to presenting compelling arguments for the reality of alien encounters, the authors present some interesting insights on some of the most confusing portions of the Bible.

This book explores some possible explanations to try to reconcile what appears to be strong evidence for extraterrestrial / supernatural encounters and Christian beliefs. Some of these theories are sure to be controversial.

If UFOlogy were the primary or only subject researched by these authors, I would be hesitant to recommend it. However, both have done outstanding research in other areas.

My only reservation about this book is that the authors try to tie together so many concepts at one time that there just isn't enough room to do most of them justice.

For instance, as presented in the book, credible arguments may be made for a slight shift in Earth's orbit around 700 BC. However, four astronomers wrote an entire book (The Long Day of Joshua and Other Biblical Catastrophes) developing the concept of an Earth-Mars orbital resonance. They recognized that this is an extraordinary claim. Carl Sagan once said, "I believe that the extraordinary should be pursued. But extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence."

Unfortunately, brevity required that much of the evidence for this and other concepts be heavily edited in order to fit everything into Alien Encounters. (The bibliography provides ample material for further research, however.)

Overall, though, I would heartily recommend Alien Encounters, especially to skeptics. Despite my own skepticism, I found myself over half way through the book before I first put it down. And while I'm still undecided about some of the conclusions presented, it at least convinced me that this is a topic which deserves more serious consideration.

Summary: Everyone should read this book!!!!
Review: As a believer that came out of the muck of the agnostic lifestyle, i find this book to represent an objective view of the possibility that the so called Alien Invasion might have other more direct implications for the believers and non believers. I find it a provocative, thought inspiring review of the available data. Mr Missler and Dr Eastman have taken Old Testament verses that have been an enigma to most of us and have given them an explanation that seems to stand up to the rest of the Bible. If you take the Bible literally as the inspired word of God and you take it to mean everything it says you should read this book and meditate upon it, to draw your own conclusions. For the non believer it is an interesting study into the science behind the UFO phenomenon and explores the possibility that extraterrestrials aren't even agreeing with each other on what they claim to be the irrefutable truth behind the existense of religion on this planet from Jesus is a hybrid, to He was just a man with the most perfect aura. I find it an interesting plunge into both my study of the Bible and my unending thirst for the developments that science has to offer. Remember that science was founded to prove the existence of God not to disprove Him.

Summary: Gotta Love It!
Review: Missler and Eastman have done an outstanding job. The reviews, as you will notice, are either extremely positive or they want their money back. The subject area itself causes such divergent views. These gentlemen have done an excellent work, one that might be the only way to get though to your new age friends and relations. (Incidently, there is one recent "review" below from a man who has made a career of attacking Mr. Missler. Hope he someday seeks gainful employment.)

Summary: Gullibles, beware!
Review: Listen to Missler long enough, and you will hear him label Christians who disagree with him about the "Nephilim" as being liberals who are "embarassed by their Bibles." You'll also hear him say that amillenialism is antisemitic. Yet, on the other hand, you will also find him giving an endorsement or two for militia-group antisemitic propaganda periodicals. You'll also come across his astonishing endorsement of Gail Riplinger's farsical "New Age Bible Versions" (for the antidote, see James White's "The King James Only Controversy"). You'll also hear him attack "post-trib" Christians for "not knowing their Bibles" and for "confusing Israel and the Church." You will also gradually find him tossing in a pinch of pyramidology, which he uses as potential evidence to back up potential viewpoints which he claims he doesn't necessarily hold.

Then there are his strange allusions to astronomy, claiming that Mars' orbit regularly brought it close to earth's long ago. During these "near pass-bys," ancient peoples could see the "face" on Mars, which terrified them, thus leading to the red planet's nasty reputation. Of course, the "face" on Mars, according to Missler, may have actually been built by his personal doctrinal pets, those Nephilim, who are allegedly mutant human/angel offspring who fly UFOs and abduct humans (assuming that God ever created ANY type of angelic being with procreative abilities).

Listen long enough, and his eschatology will take a bizarre turn as he suggests that "the antiChrist will either be an alien or closely associated with one." There may even be aliens among us! Heck, we might even suppose that President Clinton could be a ruthless alien, because Mr. Clinton (all according to Missler) may have ordered the fatal crash of the plane which killed former Commerce Secretary Ron Brown, may have ordered the death of an associate of Ron Brown, may have been behind the death of Vince Foster, and may have ordered the bombing attack on the Murrah Federal Building!

Mix in with all of the above Missler's allegedly accidental plagiarisms, his conspiracy theories about Flight 800, his apparently phoney name-dropping efforts employed to bolster his credentials to his audiences, and hints about "the end of western civilization" on January 1, 2000 -- and you come up with...with...something really space-cadetish.

Folks, I'm not making these charges up! I have heard and read his materials. I apologize for my public ranting, but because Missler routinely touts himself as an expert on many things, and because he insults others who hold eschatological viewpoints that aren't his (viewpoints which he regularly distorts), he does far more damage than I have. Besides, what damage have I done? I am only repeating statements he has shared in public and on the air. And if you are really into these kinds of teachings, then by all means buy this book. And order boatloads of his teaching materials.

I'll give the book two stars because they worked so doggone hard on it, but the fear-mongering subject matter is entirely unnecessary for Christian concern and study.
