Rating: Summary: let's see more of these two. Review: I read the Hawk and Fisher books before I ever knew "Blue Moon Rising" existed, I found it in a used book store and felt like I struck gold. These books are witty, fun, well written, and thouroughly enjoyable, (and it must be said that bad guys getting thier just deserts is always a good thing even if it is just fiction.) Beyond the Blue Moon was not quite as good as Blue Moon Rising, but that's rather like saying that a T-bone isn't as good as a ribeye steak. I think Mr. Green has lots of room to work with Hawk and Fisher, I don't see those two settled down on a little backwater farmstead raising kids and chickens.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not great Review: I've read Mr Green's Bluemoon Rising, and all the Haven books. I feel that this book is nicely written. After reading this, it feels like the story has come a full circle. However, the ending was very rushed, and altogether not very satisfying. The Burning Man and Walking Man was an interesting idea, although I was disappointed at how the Burning Man was resolved. Parts of the story are very predictable, which is why I only give it a 4.The ending seems to hint that there will be one more book on the Forest Kingdom...I certainly hope so. :) Overall, this book doesn't do justice to Bluemoon Rising, but is still a very enjoyable read for me.

Rating: Summary: Chocolate Chip Cookies Review: Okay, I'm a serious Simon Green fan. "Blue Moon Rising" is one of my all time favorites, and I was sorry when he went from writing great Fantasy to writing bad Sci-Fi. So I was really excited to see this sequel, the excitement didn't last. In order to explain this I came up with the following analogy: "Beyond.." is comparable to the basic Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookie- worth eating but not very exciting, while the Hawk and Fisher series rates the more satisfying Chunky Chips Ahoy.. definitely enjoyable. The original "Blue Moon Rising" would be similar to my home baked cookies.. serious pleasure.. :-) So go ahead and read it, paperbacks aren't a huge investment (although they're getting close), but don't expect a burst of pleasure. Mr. Green has left the room.. :-(
Rating: Summary: Novel ruined by bad grammar - again. Review: Someone needs to inform Mr. Green that sentence fragments are not a stylistic device, they are just bad grammar. There are so many sentence fragments that it made the book very hard to read. I counted 4 in one paragraph, and the longest distance without a fragment was a page and a half.
Rating: Summary: Blergh... Review: The heading says it all really... I have read and reread blue moon rising more times than i can count, and would easily call it one of my favourite novels. Naturally, i was excited when i heard of the coming sequel, and rushed to read it when it came out. I was bitterly disappointed. It was like a rushed effort to get all the characters together for a badly thought out adventure that ends like a bad scooby doo movie. Properly done, this could have been a great novel and it had some great ideas. As it is, i almost felt like weeping from disappointment when it was over. Avoid at all costs.
Rating: Summary: Great sequel Review: Was a little ragged in some of the character development, but a great "read". It did help to have read "Blue Moon", but the plot can stand alone. Green is always wonderfully tongue-in-cheek with his Hawk and Fischer characters. I will certainly read it again.
Rating: Summary: Not the best, but fans of Green will want to read it. Review: When I first heard of a sequel to BLUE MOON RISING, I was thrilled, and I bought the first copy I could get my hands on. Now that I've read it ... I'm a little disappointed, but I'll probably read it again because of my love for the first book. This (final?) installment of the Hawk and Fisher series starts out in the city of Haven much like the previous stories. And indeed, we see a lot of familiar references in BEYOND THE BLUE MOON. The Arthurian symbolism is so thick you could cut it with a knife, but there are also familiar characters from and references to other Green books like BLOOD AND HONOR and SHADOWS FALL. It was nice to see the Seneschal again, and to hear that Viktor and Catriona got married. Unfortunately, the characters, old and new, are never fully developed and their motives are always unclear. This is in part to support the sense of mystery surrounding the murder investigation, but if you haven't figured out the killer by the middle of the book, you haven't been paying attention. The plot in general is rushed, with a feeling of anticlimax at the end. Despite the book's many flaws, I still enjoyed it. I will probably read it again. I just don't feel that it measured up to the standards of the original BLUE MOON. I would almost rather have seen this story broken up into novellas like those featured in GUARDS OF HAVEN and SWORDS OF HAVEN. If you're looking for closure in this series, definitely read this book. If you've never read Simon Green's work before, don't start with this one.
