Summary: This book is on my top 20 list of SF&F classics!
Review: I read this book years ago during its first debut in paperback form. I am very happy to see it being reissued as my old paperback is rapidly falling apart in spite of the care I treat it with. The Silver Metal Lover is one of the few books that I never tire of rereading (which I do about three times a year.) I think the reason this book is so special to me is the caring treatment Ms. Lee gave this topic. Though the book ends on a sad note, you are left with hope both for Jain and yourself as well. I have often noticed when I reread this book when I am blue, that I feel as though there is hope for me as well. Perhaps this is because Ms. Lee is one of the most skilled writers at setting mood I have ever encountered. I could only wish more writers had writing gifts to equal hers. Definitely "A Must-Read".

Summary: It's about time!
Review: Yes, yes, YES! We have been campaigning for some time for this book to be reissued, and we are *ecstatic* to see it returned once more to print for a new generation of readers. In light of recent technological advances in the Real World and the frightening trend towards replacing even artists with machines, this book is more timely than ever at the dawn of this new millennium...

Summary: haunting, absolutely haunting
Review: I have lost my copy and I am heartbroken. It would have had to be replaced soon anyway, for it was falling apart from being reread so many times over the years... As with the best SF, Lee here anticipated issues of identity in a cybernetic age that we are only now coming to have to consider in the Real Life World. I wish they would reprint this book, it's more timely now than ever...

Summary: From my distant childhood
Review: Oddly enough, I seem to recall reading this book earlier than the mid-80's...was it published before then? My friend Shana and I read it, and found it to be wonderfully inspiring and insightful. The strength of the main characters, and realism of the cruelty of many others, made it very intensely touching. It's the kind of book you want someone to make a movie of, but you know that if they did, they would foolishly change the ending to be more like Hollywood. A classic, which I would like to find a copy of, to pass on to my now-teenage nieces.

Summary: This book saved my life when I was a teenager.
Review: Tanith Lee's books always have haunting characters with unforgettable voices, but Jain is the one who has stayed with me all these years. I bought a new copy of this book when my first one wore out, then I bought a hardback copy so that I would have a paperback to lend to anyone I knew who had been misunderstood in love. Find this book, wherever you can, and read it. Please. It's worth it.

Summary: Amazing !
Review: When one of my best friends handed me this out-of-print book I sort of sneered at the title, thinking it would hardly be worth my time. What I opened, instead, was an incredibly captivating tale of a young woman I could relate to. I couldn't put it down and stayed up all night finishing. After I was done, I was awe struck. Tanith Lee is such a wonderfully brialliant writer, yet I can compare her work to no other writer I have ever encountered. I implore you to try this book on for yourself, and hear an absolutely stunning love story.

Summary: My favorite book...
Review: An incredible book that I have loved since it first came out. It's a perfectly told story of a girls first romance and coming of age, all with an amazing twist. Poignant. Thoughtful. Amazing. It touches me now as much as it did when I first read it as a young person. It's an indictment of the stupidity of the publishing industry that this book is currently out of print.

Summary: Girl Meets Boy - The Usual Story Made Extraordinary
Review: What can I say? This book ought to be a classic. It is poignant, riveting and breath-takingly beautifully written. The core story is a rather basic one - "A Girl Meets a Boy, Complications Ensue" - but the way Tanith Lee tells it, all the fascinating details she adds to it and the whole eerie atmosphere of the book make it unforgettable. The characters are very life-like (yes, especially the android!) and multidimensional. I could also totally relate to the female protagonist, which seldom happens when I read other romance novels. It also says a lot that I still remember the names of almost all characters, although I read the book roughly three years ago! You can't help falling in love with this love story.

Summary: One of the best books I ever read
Review: The Silver Metal Lover is absolutely one of my favorite books, right up there with the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and 2001: A Space Odyssey. The touching Romeo/Juliet type story of a girl in love with a robot is absolutely breathtaking, from the poignant story to the lyrical language and wording that is Tanith Lee's style. This book made me laugh, and it is the only book ever to make me cry. Every time I read it, I find new phrases, ideas, and emotions in it, and every single time I shed shameless tears. If you ever get a chance to buy or read this book, please do. You won't regret it

Summary: Metal Love
Review: This is one of my most favorite books. I rarely enjoy romance novels. However, there was just something intriguing about this one.
I read it early high school and it's one of those books that I pick up reading once in a while.
I really enjoyed the secondary plot of the homosexual liaison romance, with one of the characters.
Lee does a wonderful job experiment different kinds of relationships and isn't afraid of writing different stories.
