Rating: Summary: A rollicking adventure Review: "The man who was not Terrence O'Grady had come quietly..." And so begins one of my all time favorite books. Val Con yos'Phelium, Scout, was an interstellar spy on the run from his own government. Miri Robertson was an ex-mercenary on the run from hit men sent by a galactic crime cartel. Thrown together by chance, they become partners - and careen from one tight spot to another, on a roller coaster ride of adventure. Miri and Val Con find themselves getting in and out of sticky situations: from facing Juntavas thugs, to dodging a planetary police force, from consorting with giant turtles, to playing chicken with space pirates! In the end, however, they find all that they really need is each other. Steve Miller and Sharon Lee have created a wonderful universe, peopled with likable, well-developed characters - from Charlie, the security guard, to Edger, the eight-foot-tall bottle-green Clutch turtle.
Agent of Change is eminently readable, laugh-out-loud funny, and impossible to put down. You'll be dismayed to find yourself reading the last word. The good news is the story Val Con, Miri, and Clan Korval is continued in Conflict of Honors, Carpe Diem, Plan B, and I Dare. If you are just starting the adventure, I envy you. Happy reading!
Rating: Summary: very enjoyable book that will be reread several times Review: A story featuring believable characters, with flaws and everything believable entails, that is not drowning in details of technology. You will care about the characters, their decisions make sense, and the entire background is vividly described and logically consistent.
Rating: Summary: A cult classic in science fiction! Review: Agent of Change is part of the Liaden Universe books written by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller -- and I hear it is going to be reprinted next year. Buy it if you like character-oriented science fiction that's fun and entertaining. Conflict of Honors and Carpe Diem are other Lee & Miller books --great fun! A new book in the series, Plan B, is due out in February 1999. I've ordered it already!
Rating: Summary: Great!!! Review: Agent of Change is the first in a series written by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller. The most interesting thing about this book is the ease with which the authors distinguish between the different languages (this skill is more apparent in the later book, Carpe Diem). Unfortunately, the authors have not written anything after Carpe Diem. -- Conflict of Honors deals with the relationship of his cousin and Priscilla.
Rating: Summary: excellent, as is everything by these authors Review: Agent of Change was the first book by Steve Miller and Sharon Lee that I ever came across. I re-read my copy of that and Conflict of Honors for years before I finally found them on the web and learned they had more books. I've read all their books and stories and love them all. I can't recommend them highly enough.
Rating: Summary: Agent of Change is by Steve Miller AND Sharon Lee Review: Agent of Change, as all of the published Liaden Universe stories and novels, has two authors: Steve Miller and Sharon Lee
Rating: Summary: An excellent action adventure story. One of my favorites. Review: I first found this book years ago and have re-read it many times. It is a good action-adventure story with a touch of romance (just enough to spice - NO goo!) Val Con is cool and polished as the "agent of change" and Miri, the red-haired firebrand of a mercenary adds a good dose of hard-headed practicality to the mix. Add in some large turtle-like, extremely likeable aliens and some nasty criminal types and you have a first-rate, fast paced story. Here you also get introduced to the Liaden world in general, where humans have branched into at least three subcultures. I would highly recommend this book for any science fiction fan!

Rating: Summary: Extremely enjoyable story. Review: I just finished this book for the 7th time, and it's still one of the most involving stories I've every read. I couldn't put it down, and my spouse hasn't seen my face in days. I'm so glad I stole the first trilogy from his roommate, back in college! I won't bother to describe the plot or characters, others have done it better than I in previous reviews. I will say that this series of books fired conversations between my husband and I for years before the sequel trilogy was published. I wanted to be Miri, I had a crush on Val Con, and barring all else, I wanted to be adopted by the Clutch Turtles! Needless to say, like so many others, I highly recommend all the Liad books to anyone who appreciates science fiction.
