Rating: Summary: An Emotional Tale Review: From the moment I stepped into Sherwood I could feel the thoughts and emotions from each character. A gifted writer pulls you into the environment and leaves you to move through the pages as if you belong in the tale. Her presence was felt from beginning to end as she developed each person's strengths and weaknesses. Lisa envelopes the reader in sorrow through the tragidies and raises your spirit with the loves that surpass time. It's as if Lisa lived in that time and brought her past to us. Her knowledge and research of the old ways is eerie. A tale worth reading again and again.
Rating: Summary: Highly entertaining, romantic and cinematic Review: I had a great time reading Sherwood Forest, a clever and romantic re-weaving of the Robin Hood legend, where Sherwood is a pagan Eden and where magic and ritual are a part of everyday life. Robin and the Maid Marion lead this simple pagan community, one of the last havens for the witches of England, as it clashes with the spread of organized religion and faces the inevitable witch hunts. Sherwood Forest is a highly entertaining, very visual and movie-like read, full of symbolism and parallels.
Rating: Summary: Full of Passion! Review: I very much enjoyed this book. The writing style is rich and descriptive. It reminds me of some of my other favorites, The Mists of Avalon and The Firebrand (by Marion Zimmer-Bradley), and Heart of the Fire (by Ceridwen Fallingstar), which all suggest alternative re-tellings of semi-historical legends. I like the fact that the author places just as much emphasis on Maid Marion as Robin Hood, for example.. the balance of female/male in the story is a refreshing twist (hinted at in the beautiful cover artwork), when normally we are used to hearing only about Robin and his Merry Men in the Robin Hood legend (and not so much about Marion and her perspective). I find that older stories of Robin Hood are lacking passion in general, and seem rather stoic. In this version, the author emphasizes the beauty and passion of life in Sherwood Forest, among its great, old trees, as well as the excitement and danger of the lives of Robin and Marion, and Robin's life as a nobleman. She brings in a very mystical viewpoint (magic, fairies, spells, etc.), but it seems natural for a legend which has essentially achieved a "magickal" place in our repertoire anyway. I especially recommend this book to anyone who liked Mists of Avalon.

Rating: Summary: I loved this book! Review: I was instantly drawn into this story, and truly didn't want to put it down. Because I have two-year-old twins who command the majority of my time, I had to steal moments to be able to read it, and felt lost whenever I was called back to reality. The plot, story, and characters are riveting, and I can't wait for the sequel! My coworker, one of the people who helped proof and edit the book, loaned me her copy so I could read it, and I'm now awaiting delivery of my own copy. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who has a love of the tale of Robin Hood and Marian, and is one with nature and the Goddess.

Rating: Summary: YOU'VE GOTTA READ THIS BOOK! Review: Lisa Croll Di Dio has a superb talent for capturing her readers' imaginations and absorbing them into her story. I felt completely transported into Sherwood Forest, sensing all the sights and sounds personally as she described them. This is one book I had much difficulty putting down, as Lisa's eloquent writing urged me from chapter to chapter. As one unfamiliar with the "Old Ways", I found myself intrigued with the "naturalness" of how they lived and felt a strong desire to have experienced life as it was. Sherwood Forest is a MUST READ for anyone who appreciates romance, adventure, drama, and a wonderful tale of eternal love. I eagerly await Lisa's next book.
