Rating: Summary: Freedom's Choice Review: A wonderful pick-up where the last one ended. Enjoy the story because you will want to finish the series.
Rating: Summary: A Good Read. Will inspire you to read all of her books! Review: Although slow to get started, I really enjoyed this book. It was good, entertaining, and quick on the plot.
Rating: Summary: Go Anne McCaffrey!!! Review: Anne McCaffrey continues the story from her first book of this series entitled "Freedom's Landing" in this continuation, Kris and the others that were "dropped" on the planet they call Botiny have established regimens, to take care of themselves and the lifeforms they are still dropping. They have also come up with a plan, or should I say Zainal has, to attract the ruling force of the home they have come to know. Zainal is Catteni (cat/human species), who has earned the respect of all, even though he is of the species that put them where they are today. They extensively explore the planet, including the continents and hidden valleys. Upon meeting the planets owners (the farmers) they find out some riviting information. And yes, this book has acts of bravery above and beyond the call of duty! I was enthralled with this book as I am with all of Anne's works of creativity, I give it a nine rating simply because I don't think she centralized on the main characters enough, meaning her character lin
Rating: Summary: desperately need information Review: Could someone please e-mail me with the order in which the various books are to be read. For example, The Rowan, Damia, Damia's Children, Lyons Pride. are the 4 books in this series that I have read and they are listed in the order that they need to be read. I have just finished Freedom's Landing and have enjoyed it very much. Now I don't know which one the read next, Freedom's Challenge or Freedom's Choice. ALso I may like the Pern books, so in what order do I need to read them. Thank you for any help you can give me. I know this isn't really a review but I don't know where else to get the info. I would like to e-mail the author direct but I've found no e-mail address or any other way to contact her.
Rating: Summary: absolutely perfect Review: Dear Mrs.Mc Caffrey. I just wanted to thank you for the catteni series. It was a real thrill to read. The catteni is a very interesting race, and I would really like to know more about them -especially how Zainal's 2 sons cope with their new life on Botany. My praise is not just for the exitement in the book, but also for the way you describe people. I hope Perizec, gets punished accordingly.I hope the series doesn't stop after 'Freedom's Challenge'......There's so much more I wanted to know......maybe there's some room for short stories like the initiating invation of Earth seen with an Emassi's eyes or perhaps a description of some of the fates of the human slaves, like Patti Sue's. Best regards and my compliments to you and your work. Mai.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME....I LOVE MCCAFFREY Review: Freedoms landing was the first book that I read of McCaffrey's, and I loved it so I was entrigued with a sequel. Then I realized I had read an excerpt of the Pern chronicals (entitled "The Smallest Dragonboy") and I went out and bought other novels by this wonderful author. The storyline is easy to follow, and if you love it, read more by McCaffrey!!!
Rating: Summary: Good solid story, character development not too strong. Review: Good "hard science fiction" book, not as good as her Pern series. She seems to be doing some real cliche character development and there's quite a "deus ex machina" dependence on the "Farmers" and their technology. The Catteni are not believable at all. Seems to be losing its focus. The first book was better.
Rating: Summary: Disapointing with a lack of depth Review: I found the characterization weak with little link to real people and the obstacles were overcome with barely a ripple, what conflict there was was dealt with too easily. The whole book left me feeling "so what". No conflict, many issues with no resolution (mixed race, forced breeding, alien captors, leadership battles etc), no drama. This was a real dissapointment as I am a fan of McCaffreys and was looking forward to a new title.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, Anne McCaffrey does it again. Review: I have always enjoyed Ms. McCaffrey's books, perhaps it is her ability to draw you into these worlds and make them exist. I have often found myself wondering what it would be like to bond with and fly a dragon between. In "Freedom's Choice", I was absorbed into a community of exiles fighting for survival. The mental picture drawn for me by Ms. McCaffrey was graphic and complete. You can be part of a group trying desperately to hide one of its members from the tyrants that imprisoned you there. The adventure is yours when you read this book. As usual this writer takes you in and you become an on-site observer. I highly recommend this book for any Anne McCaffrey fan and any Science Fiction fan.
