Rating: Summary: An intriguing alternate history of the U.S. under Nazi rule Review: Budspy is a novel of an alternate history where the Nazis have won World War 2. Chic Western is the son of Jewish parents killed in the Holocaust. Intrigued by his difference from other students, the American Secret Ombudsmen Commission recruits him and so he becomes a `budspy,' moving from job to job and reporting on unpatriotic co-workers.
Six years after working in the Untied States, he is assigned to the American Embassy in Germany to investigate a report on an intelligence leak to the Soviets. He begins a liaison with a fellow Embassy worker who unknowingly leads the budspy to the source of the Intelligence leak: a resistance group.
In the Embassy he discovers a letter revealing how Hitler's advisers planed his death by encouraging him to go to the Soviet front, where he is killed during a surprise attack. The new leaders of the Nazis then coerce the Allies into surrender.
This story is very educational and suspenseful. It explores how life might be, with America's independence lost, and the ensuring system of oppression and collaboration under a Nazi regime.
