Rating: Summary: The Giver is worthwhile for someone of any age to read Review: I found The Giver to be an interesting book. Lowry did an excellent job presenting concepts that I found hard to grasp, such as not having color. I was impressed with the creativity that she showed and her ability to create an entire fictional community. Lowry deserves all due respect for being able to continuously write about that community and not once contradict herself. The Giver is a book that I believe is suitable for all ages and I highly recomend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Interesting and Insightful Book Review: As a junior in college in a children's literature course and as a future educator, I found this book very interesting. It could be very useful in a classroom full of young adults. Lois Lowry helps an individual's imagination and creative side run wild with the plot of this book.
Rating: Summary: The Giver was a very interesting and creative book. Review: The way that Lois Lowry put this book together is amazing. Many of the words she used to describe our everyday words was spectacular. I'm really not much of a science fiction reader, but this but I truly enjoyed.
Rating: Summary: Really good book!!! Review: The Giver is one of the best books I ever read. It's about Jonas, a boy who lives in a world without color or feelings. One day he gets his new job that he has to train for and it is Receiver of memories. Jonas has to receive all the memories of a past world with color, feelings, and love. All these memories start him thinking about how horrible his world really is. This book made me think of how lucky we are to have feelings.
Rating: Summary: The Giver Opens Your Eyes and Makes You Question Perfection Review: This book is fantastic! I am a teacher and I am truly excited to share this novel with my students...it makes you open your eyes and question the meaning of "perfection." Many times we speak of how wonderful it would be to live in a "perfect world", but I do not believe that we can comprehend what that would mean - a loss of freedom, of beauty, of innocence,of history, of love...If you are interested in reading a book that will make you thankful for all of the many great gifts we do have, pick up this treasure and enjoy it for all of its wisdom!
Rating: Summary: The Giver is a great book - I couldn't put it down! Review: The Giver by Louis Lowery is a great book. The author brings the characters to life, and it feels as if you are really in Jonas's world. It is a page turner, so I recomend everyone to read it!!
Rating: Summary: Don't Judge This Book by it's Cover Review: The Giver looked really boring at first, but due to an assignment from a teacher, I had to read it. Most of the class read ahead of the required reading. It is defininately a page turner. You will start to really feel for Jonas and what he goes through. The ending was very confusing, but if you have a good imagination, you'll love this one.
Rating: Summary: Buy This Book For Your Child or Yourself!!!!!! Review: I actually met her in 6th. grade when we were reading the book. She came in because I went to school with a child that she was the grandmother to. She is a very nice lady and this book is one of my personal favorites. I also got it signed!
