Rating: Summary: This is DA BOMB! Review: Let me start by saying that in the fourth grade I ask the school librarian what book she recomended. She told me The Giver. I didn't really want to read the book, so I told her no. Then, three years later, seventh grade, my teacher told us about The Giver, and it sounded really cool. I read it in two days. I couldn't put it down. I was so overwelmed with the book I kept telling my mom about the book. She had no clue to what I was saying. I LOVED this book, and I'm really sorry that I didn't take it in the fourth grade when I got the chance.
Rating: Summary: The Giver is a magnificent book for all ages. Review: I first read the book in 6 grade.(My friend recommended it). I'm now 14 and still love it. Rating: Summary: My favorite book, STILL! Review: I am 15 years old and I read the giver when I was 11. It remains my favorite book, and sometimes, I just read sections of it now, because I love it so much! It is an example of how Lois Lowry "thinks outside of the box". It is creative and thought provoking and definately a must read.
Rating: Summary: Thought provoking -- a great conversation starter Review: I read this book when a controversy arose about it at my son's school. I wanted to know what all the uproar was about. I feel the story is extremely thought provoking. Wouldn't it be great to live in such a "safe" world? Or would it? My son and daughter both said they'd rather live with some troubles as long as they had freedom. My belief is that Jonas found Utopia...and it was our world...imperfect as it may be.
Rating: Summary: The Greatest Book I Ever Read!!! Review: One day in school I had nothing to read so I looked around and I saw this book sitting on the shelf called The Giver. The name interested me so I picked it up and started reading it. I only read one paragraph and I knew I should've read it, so I did. This book inspired me so much I couldn't stop reading it. Every spare minute I had, I read the book. When I finished, I couldn't sleep that night very much. I kept thinking of the book, and I couldn't stop. So I read it again. I suggest this book to anyone, everyone. And once you have read it don't stop reading, keep going. Jonas, age 12, is a very brave young man, no one could ever replace him. He goes through love, death, starvation, pain, color, and even more that no one in this book has ever experienced. So go ahead and read this book, you won't regret it!!!
