Summary: Fantastic
Review: This is a fasinating and wonderful book that should be read and loved by everyone. I read quite a few of the reviews, and was appaled! To think that someone could say that one should save their money and read a classic is HORRIFIC. This book by some is considered a classic. This book leaves a lasting but good impression. This book was an insight to another culture, real or not, and that is very valuable. I am in 8th grade and just read __The Giver__for the second time( I read it in 4th grade and have been meaning to read it ever since.) This time, though I understood it the first time, I really grasped it the second time around and picked up little things that I didn't the first which changed the whole picture only slightly, but made the book seem different, and if possible--even better. I could probaly read this book fifty times and still discover new things, as I probably will.

Summary: Interesting, well written, and thought evoking.
Review: I just finished reading "The Giver" for an assignment in my Young Adult Liturature 4510 class, and I wish I would have read it sooner in life.

With it's interesting subject matter, inovative ideas, and easy-to-read structure, "The Giver" would be an excellent way for youth to study their own culture, prescribed social boundaries, and their own ideas about what society should be like.

I was once asked "If a book doesn't get under your skin and make you think about it's content, then what is the purpose of reading it?" I think that Lowry does an excellent job of probing young minds to ask questions and explore new ideas.

Summary: Decent
Review: The book the giver was on the first books that I ever really read just for the sake of reading it. Before it I had just read books that were assigned to me in school. And to my suprised it was pretty good. It was about something that I usually didn't read about in school. I thought that the book was very interesting, and really kept my attention. I would recommend this book to some one who dosen't usually read a lot of books just for fun of it.

Summary: This book was great! I loved it!
Review: The Giver by Lois Lowery was one of the best books I've ever read. It's a little bit different then from some other books you might have read, but the way Lois describes and makes you feel like your actually there is wonderful. If you're ever looking for a book, get The Giver.

Summary: The Giver : A Weak Attempt at Allegory (with a Bad Ending)
Review: The book was tollerable and even enjoyable until the conclusion. The book falls apart at the end. If you want a true, classic and socially enlightening book, then read THE SCARLET LETTER by Hawthorne. Lowry's weak attempts at making the boy Christlike include: a red apple (a color only seen by the boy), discovering christmas, and saving a baby from death. If you are looking for a happy ending, you'll have to fill in the blanks...

Summary: An awesome book! Great time spent!
Review: I have read this book about 6 times and I have to say, every time I've read it it's just been magical. There are some things you read or see that you can just read or watch again and again and you never get tired of it! Jonas was such a courageous boy, so independent. And everyone needs to read a bit of that these days! In a world of no poverty, no disease, no true-bred mother father or siblings, no weather changes, no holidays, no true love. Can you imagine what that would be like? Well, Jonas does, and that's what makes this book so wonderful. It's realism. Lowry can just pull you in, let go a bit, then tighten the rope again. I loved this book, and recommend it for anyone who can read and has good sense about books! Got any comments email me at BEXAWORM@aol.com

Summary: wierd
Review: i thought that the book was very confusing. the community that it was placed in was extremely odd. I could not concentrate on the story because it was so strange.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Overall I liked this book.
Review: The only parts in the book that I did not like were the begining and end. The begining was to confusing and I did not understand it until about chapter six. The ending was okay but that was not the way that I wanted it to end.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It was a great book
Review: In the begining it thought it was not very good, but like at page 30 it started getting good! If you are looking for a good book to read this is the book! I did not like the ending very much because it just left you hanging. I thought it could have had a better ending. Hope you enjoy this book

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: An interesting book although the ending leaves you hanging
Review: The book was good, it gave you the details about the community bit by bit to keep you reading. But the ending left you hanging over a cliff.
