Summary: The Giver
Review: I read The Giver by Lois Lowery. It was a good book, but very confusing. It you are a person who likes to read difficult books and like science fiction this is a book for you. The main character is a twelve year old boy named Jonas. He lives in a town that is basically perfect where there is no pain and no color. Jonas gets to become Reciever of Memory where he receives memory of snow, war, the ocean, ect. He is getting memories of the world before it turned perfect. It is a very compelling story. I think it was a very good book. You might need to read it a second time to fully get it.

Summary: The Giver
Review: As a book of fiction The Giver is great. I find that because it shows you to be careful what you wish for. In The Giver the characters can't see any color or are unable to hear music. They have no freedom of choice in their world. All because some one made a wish and it came true. The part that effected me the most is reading about Jonas because he was the receiver of everyone's memories. He ends up receiving all their pain, but at the same time he also receives their beautiful memories at the same time. At the time the character Jonas is twelve years old so he's pretty young. In the end the decision that Jonas makes is important about himself but to find out about that you have to read the book. I think that if it left me feeling what if this really happened in our world, I think that you would wonder to.

Summary: Great book, one of the best books ever written
Review: Fantasic book about a community in some place and time other than here and now. About the life in a community with no pain or suffering yet with no emotions no love. Lois Lowry is a genius, although much of her book contains ideas from other books (1984, the bible) she is great storyteller. Anyway isn't that what a genius is, someone who takes something old and makes something new. Heart wrenching tale. The only pain I get from this book is I have heard that Lois Lowry has signed movie rights over for it and I do not believe any good will come of that.

Summary: The Giver
Review: The book that I really liked is called the Giver. it wasn't the same as any other book I have read. A lot of people like stories that are just mysteries or just something surprising happens. But this book gots a little bit of mystery in it as well. In this community everything is the same. Kids get their bike at a certain age. The best part occurs when you get to the middle of the book. I really recommend this book to people who like to read.

Summary: As Good As It Gets
Review: Lois Lowery has written some good books in the past. But nothing that that she has written is half as wonderful as The Giver. Jonas, the main character, lives in a world of no pain. When Jonas is assigned a job in the community, he is picked out to receive memories of the past. The memories are of joy, pain, evil and everything in between. There is definitely no turning back. I liked The Giver because it has many different characters and made me ask questions about the meaning of life. Jonas the main character lives in a life so different from ours. However he relates to our world. He almost makes us hate it. He has many experiences with the characters in the book, such as his parents, close friends, and the Giver. I think that The Giver is a unique book because it attempts to portray the meaning of life in a way that is keeps in the story. Some people might disagree with my ideas. Others may think that this book is confusing. It is a little confusing, because it shows you what is important and doesn't tell you that. For people, that to try to that try to rush through books as fast as possible to the Human brain, it may be confusing. Now when you read this book, which I highly suggest you do, you will realize immediately that it is definitely worth reading.

Summary: The Giver
Review: I loved "The Giver." I thought that it was an excellent book. The author, Lois Lowry did a fantastic job of writing a novel about a twelve year old. This book was not boring to me and I couldn't put it down. It had so many actions and it was unlike any other story that I have read before. In my opinion, "The Giver" is an excellent book.

Summary: The Giver delivers
Review: The Giver, by Lois Lowry, is an excellent book for readers of all ages. The plot and the themes work together beautifully to keep the reader both intrigued and guessing. You find yourself appreciating your own world and the things we so easily take for granted. The Giver shows us a world without feeling and without emotion, and one cannot help but think about ways in which our own world is also devoid of such basic necessities in life. This book will entertain, but also educate the reader about the ways in which society as a whole can so directly affect each one of us as individuals. I highly recommend this book to any reader above the age of 11.

Summary: Excellent Four Star Book!
Review: THE GIVER is an edge of your seat reader, which will not alllow you to put it down. It is a book in which describes the life of a 12 year old boy, who lives in a future community with his family unit. He is assigned a job which is one among the community, and he is trained by the giver. The community in which this excellent book takes place in, has climate control, where it is never hot, and it is never cold. The've never seen rain;the've never seen snow. Read and find out about this good but bad, adventrous story, and like I said;you will never want it to end.

Summary: A beautiful, sad work of literary art
Review: I thought that this book was wonderful; it is one of my favorites. I thought that the detail Lois Lowry used was excellent in showing Jonas' thoughts and feelings as he slowly learns the truth about his world and his life. The end leaves you hanging somewhat, yet at the same time feeling fulfilled. It made me feel sadness, happiness, pity, and anger all at once. It also has an ominous undercurrent, making you wonder "What if? What if this will happen?" It's exciting, funny, sad, scary...in other words, it's everything that such a story should be!

Summary: Intriguing!
Review: I thought this book was great. I didn't get it at all the first time I read it. After a couple times, though, I really understood it. It really made me grateful for the little things. In the book, there was no color, no feeling, no emotion. It's hard to even imagine.

I recommend this book to everyone!
