Summary: Kept me off balance
Review: I had no idea where this amazing story was going--all I knew is I couldn't put it down and clung on for dear life as it sped toward what looked to be an impossible conclusion. Kleier pulls it off, however, with grace, guts and style. I found this possibly the best novel I've ever experienced. Very fast paced, it is an experience, not simply a read. I got so caught up in the suspense, I felt as if I was right in the middle of it all. Great fun! This is an author worth reading.

Summary: Amazing...
Review: It's amazing to me that someone's finally written a book that relates religious opinion to common sense. I left the church many years ago because I saw the same corruption, hypocracy, and money-grubbing that this book observes. I've even used the 'church of self' idea in debates with some of my Christian and Catholic friends. "The Last Day" hits even more of a nerve because I'm a typically cyncial, agnostic journalism student...

Who cares if the ideas are 'new-agey' and 'what people want to hear'? What good does the church do that people haven't formed non-relgious organizations to do? All of the churches that I know of are very exclusive unless you're wiling to convert to their particular ideology. As I read the bible, that isn't the meaning of God's word. Maybe it's time for all of the people who are ignoring what God really said in the Bible, Koran, Talmud, etc so on so forth, to repent... :)

But no matter what, the book is a good story and worth a good think.

Summary: Really, quite good
Review: I started this novel highly skeptical and ended up with a smile on my face. This is really quite a clever book. There is far more going on underneath the surface than I think many readers suspect. But even if you're not into all the intrigue and innuendo, this is still a well done suspense/mystery. It will keep your attention and interest all the way through, guaranteed.

Summary: Just What the World Wants to Hear
Review: The Last Day basically summarizes the New Age movement in America today. It's message tolerance for all religions is exactly what the world wants to hear. But folks, the fact is, their is only one way to salvation: Jesus Christ. We have all fallen short of the glory of God, and their's not a thing we can do to measure up. It is only through God's grace that we can be saved. And that is what the world can't bear to hear. I have to give some credit to Mr. Kleier for literary abilities, but if your looking to this book for spiritual guidance, burn it, and open your Bible to John 3:16.

Summary: This book cooks--
Review: I loved this book all the way through. Hot and unpredictable, nice mix of action and suspense, thrills and chills, plus a big bonus--IT'S INTELLIGENT! It actually challenges your mind. All told, one fine book. Get it, read it, think about it.

Summary: Excellent. engrossing, and more than a little strange
Review: Outstanding spiritually challenging fiction. A bit long winded, but satisfying entertainment. In my Church, The "Left Behind" series swept through the congregation like wildfire. "The Last Day" by Glenn Kleier and "Transfer-the end of the beginning" by Jerry Furland have had a similar effect. All in all I think Furland appeals to me the most in that his vision is all too credible. Food for the soul...

Summary: 3.5 Stars, actually..
Review: Ok, let's get some perspective. This book is not one big, New Agey, feminist, anti-Catholic rant. It presents some good ideas: self-reliance, rational thought, and consideration of religion rather than blindly following traditional dogma. There's some speaking against organized religion for these reasons. (Maybe he does have a personal rant against Catholics; having been raised on Catholic hypocrisy myself, I can identify.) Regardless: it seems more like sharing a personal opinion than preaching to me. And for once, I agreed with almost everything; it's not often an author does that.

As a story/end-of-world thriller, however, it falls short. Obviously it's similar to the alleged life of Jesus, so we all know where it's headed in the end. The human drama seems contrived, probably because most of the characters are just sketched in to serve the plot. The last few chapters are just rushed through, going through the obligated steps, without the depth and consideration of the previous part of the book.

Overall: very good for a first effort. If Kleier keeps improving from this, I'll be very impressed.

Summary: Very very different and provocative
Review: It isn't like any novel I've ever read. Not only does it suck you into the mystery of all mysteries, it holds you there with one of the most exciting stories imaginable. I am not exaggerating that I stayed up till 4:00 two mornings in a row finishing it. It's the type of book you can't get out of your mind and you instantly have to pass along to others, not only to share the pleasure, but to have someone to discuss the book with. My pick for best novel of the year (I also recommend Cryptonomicon).

Summary: Ok but not Gospel
Review: After reading the Left Behind series I decided to read this book. It was a good book but really gets weighted down in details. I am amazed at the number of people who are looking at this as Gospel. Get real. It's science fiction that may be worth reading but is ficticious. I enjoyed Left Behind more. It may have been light reading but this book could have been about 200 pages shorter.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An intelligent foray into the supernatural.
Review: This novel is a spectacular look at something the world has feared for 2000 years. Exciting and thought provoking. Not a religious book, but it has a beautiful spiritual quality about it. Kleier is a masterful storyteller. Highly recommended.
