Rating: 5 stars
Summary: good book
Review: I liked it. A lot. Interesting plot, lots of unusual ideas expressed, fast moving. I would have liked to see a little more attention given to the Eastern religions, but the analysis of the Western religions was right on the money and delightfully irreverent. Funny, pithy, much to think about. I'm looking forward to more from this author.

Summary: A head spinner
Review: This is a really fun book to curl up with. I liked the clever way it wove reality with fiction and always kept me off balance til the very end. There's also a lot to think about here, and a whole plate full of topical issues you seldom see addressed in mainstream fiction. This should make an interesting movie.

Summary: My Humble Opinion
Review: The reader(s) who express their admiration for this novel seem to focus their reviews on attacking those who dislike it. There are many intelligently considered negative reviews on this page of which I agree, specifically as they register astonishment at the bad writing and lack of character development. On the basis of this being a flimsy thriller, I believe a rating of four is generous. As to the "great book" status, I can only express incredulity. The positive reviews seem very extreme in their praise, some slightly delusional. This is only a thriller, people. Good or bad, it's hardly deserving of such emotional notice. The idea that only one reader has written negatively concerning the novel is particularly ridiculous as at least three other members of our reader's circle have submitted some thoughtful criticism here and encouraged me to do so as well. It appears a one person campaign in support of the book is more is more in evidence and disturbingly odd if actual.

Summary: Accolades!
Review: What a surprise this book was! I was expecting something heavy, ponderous and slow moving. Not so. This has all the energy of a action thriller and all the suspense of a classic mystery. for someone who generally reads in spurts and spots, I raced through this one last Saturday and literally never put it down. It's going to my sister next and to anyone and everyone who's hands I can get it into. A unique experience, as thrillers go, and a must read. The message is provocative and the ending a complete surprise. As good as they come!

Summary: Couldn't put it down
Review: My compliments to the author for a wonderful read. I bought this intending to take it on vacation with me, started it and absolutely could not put it down. I can't remember when I've enjoyed a book this much. It had me going the entire time, I was never able to second guess it or anticipate the bizarre and very fulfilling ending. A great book and my top recommendation.

Summary: Major new novel
Review: Now here's something different for the jaded reader. A book that delivers what it promises. THE LAST DAY offers a staggering premise--the arrival of a messiah at the turn of the millennium, presenting the world with the possiblity of Judgment Day. In the hands of a less capable writer, this would have been very difficult to pull off. But Kleier has done the impossible here, treating the reader to a greatly credible and fearsome story that truly lives up to its potential. Immensely interesting, exciting and entertaining.

Summary: One woman's humble opinion
Review: As a person who reads a great deal of contemporary fiction, I would like to comment on this most unusual novel.

Never have I come across a story that has touched me so deeply and shaken my beliefs so completely as this one has. Reading The Last Day was like experiencing an epiphany. Like being given a sacred glimpse into long lost mysteries and revelations. The story charges at you like a freight train, real, frightening and impossible to ignore, moving ever faster with each chapter, each paragraph. Yet, when I finished it (all too soon), I was left with a feeling of complete joy and satisfaction. That I had just experienced something truly unique and very important; one of those once-in-a-generation novels that actually has the power to change minds and the course of human events. In my opinion, The Last Day is a rare gift that should be read and savored and appreciated for the very special contribution it makes to society and the understanding of the human condition. There is much wisdom in this book for those willing to see it.

Summary: Great escape
Review: This is my kind of novel, fast-paced, highly original concept, well executed. Not only entertaining, but educational. Fascinating history and insights into things most people can only imagine or glimpse from afar. I put this up there as one of the best suspense novels I've ever come across.

Summary: Great fun
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this fast paced, irreverent and highly entertaining story. It moves like lightening and strikes with the same intensity, blasting hypocrcisy, intolerance, dishonesty and greed everywhere it finds it--in Washington, DC, in the halls of the Vatican, in televangelists and cynical, sanctimonious religious "authorities." This book steps far apart from the run of the mill thriller into a category and level all to itself. Excellent, excellent entertainment!

Summary: Hell of a First Book
Review: This book is great. I agree with others out there that this is not a strongly written novel, but the simplicity of the work makes it read much easier than most. I agree with the person that said worse is printed every day. Kleier has gripped a grand idea that will soon be facing all of us and has placed an interseting twist on it all. His characters, while not the deepest, are intersesting and very appealing to the imagination. I understand that these are people's opinions, and thats fine, but for those of you that read this and think about writting a review. Think about how much you really know about the author and what he really knows about a subject. Remember sometimes things originally intended don't always make the final cut. Your words could be affecting a man's life. So make sure you know all that is possible on a subject before you ruin another person's hard work and reputaion or your own by making yourself look stupid like so many of these other people that don't really know the truth about the things that they have written on this book. Good job Kleier. Look forward to your next work and the movie.
