Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down Review: It's a long time since I started a book and couldn't put it down. The build up was great with just enough mystery to keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. The only problem (as with so many gripping books) is that the end just cannot live up to the rest of the book. Nonetheless you'll enjoy getting there.
Rating: Summary: Go Figure Review: Go figure the over-the-top reviews for a badly written, simple-minded thriller. As Second Coming novels go, this can't compare with Morris West's Clowns of God, but the author here is bent on presenting a long, ugly, anti-Catholic rant instead of an enlightening book. Pretentious nonsense, not literature, with incredible dialog, flat characters, and a female messiah that will make ardent feminists cringe. A great premise quickly becomes ludicrous as Jeza (Joan Rivers should play the tv movie roll) rampages through the Vatican and delivers inane aphorisms. The poor pope is horrified and who can blame him? Trash, and not even entertaining trash, without a trace of wit, intelligence, or humanity. And from the evidence on this page, highly overrated to an unbelievable point.
Rating: Summary: As good as it gets! Review: If I live to 100 I may never read a better thriller than this one. I not only found it thoroughly absorbing and entertaining, it was a real head ride, as well. VERY thought provoking. Quite nerve-racking, and unbearably so toward the end as you are sucked into this vortex of intrigue and suspense. I give this one my highest marks. It sticks with you!
Rating: Summary: The Best! Review: Can you rate a book higher than a ten? This one deserves it. One of my favorite reads in years. Applause, applause!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Unique Review: Where did this incredible novel come from? I'm duly impressed. I've never read anything like it before. This is a brilliant story, told boldy and provocatively and with great insight and vision. More than simply a suspense story, it's like a bright beacon turned on an aspect of society that has been left to molder in the dark for two millennia. The nefarious rascals that scurry out, exposed by this light, are finally revealed in all their sordidness. This is a novel about truth, half-truths and lies, and the convoluted lines between them. It's a book about manipulation, about abuse of power and privilege, about hypocrisy and greed. And most surprisingly, when all is said and done, it's a story about faith and hope. A delightfully astounding ending. One of my favorite books of all time. I will follow this author with a passion.
Rating: Summary: Nice little piece of fiction Review: A clever, witty romp that will drive religious fanatics bonkers. The author has a field day with the religious right, tweaking every sanctimonious nose you can imagine, and doing it with flair, intelligence, great humor, and at times, caustic sarcasm. Few stories leave even one message of significance behind, but this one offers dozens of prescient insights and some truly unusual and enlightening perspectives to mull over. I liked this one a lot and only hope the movie has the guts to hold true to the content of this brash novel.
Rating: Summary: Well Done! Review: Mr. Klier takes a challenging and very compelling topic and manages to serve up a feverishly paced novel distinguished by its balance and fair-mindedness. Well done, I say, and I look forward to more intelligent reads by this author.
Rating: Summary: Very Good! Review: Much enjoyed this one. A fast read, well written. Keeps you on the edge of your chair the whole way. Plenty of discussion points. Could keep a whole philosophy class going for an entire year. Deserves the rave reviews and then some. When's the next book?
Rating: Summary: Top of the heap Review: I've read a lot of books over a long span of time to get to this one. The best. Simply outstanding in every facet--exceedingly fast moving, well written, perplexing, controversial, shocking, amusing, entertaining, scary, cunning, and very, very thought provoking. I put this one at the top of the heap and eagerly await the next book to spring from this author's talented hands.
Rating: Summary: Personally, i liked it... Review: I just wanted to say to all those out there saying that it was poorly written... how do you account for the rave professional reviews? I didn't think it was the best book or the best written. On the other hand, it was entertaining. If an idea challenges your beliefs, don't attack it, explore it. It'll probably make your beliefs stronger.
