Rating: Summary: One of my fave Highlander tales Review: "White Silence" is a stand-alone novel featuring many beloved characters from the _Highlander_ milieu. In this tale, Duncan and Fitz go to the Yukon in search of gold. Surrounded by actual historical personalities, including the publisher of the Seattle newspaper, they experience many adventures (including an avalanche). Long-time fans of the series will recognize the events leading up to the Yukon trek as those in the "Double Eagle" episode. Like the other stand-alone _Highlander_tales, this one is an entertaining read and well worth a look.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book--loved Fitz! Review: "White Silence" is one of the best of the Highlander book series so far. This story will especially appeal to anyone who likes the character of Fitzhugh (played on the TV series by Roger Daltry). The storyline is an exciting one, set in the wilds of Northwestern North America during the gold rush, and takes everyone through some very cold, harsh country. My recommendation is that this book be read somewhere warm--the writing is so well-done you'll be freezing by the end!

Rating: Summary: Another fantastic Immortal adventure Review: "White Silence" is a very enjoyable escape into the "Highlander" world. The relationship between Duncan MacLeod and Hugh Fitzcairn is expanded and another part of their history is revealed. Many times while reading this adventure I didn't want to put it down. When I had read the last page I wished there was more. I think this is a very good addition to the "Highlander" saga and would recommend it to any fan.
Rating: Summary: SAVE YOUR MONEY. . . THIS ONE'S A LOSER Review: "White Silence" is about Duncan, Fitz, and Fitz' student, Danny, prospecting for gold in Yukon territory in the late 1800s. The entire novel is set in this one time period. The characterizations are pretty good (although I think Duncan's is better than Fitz'), and Amanda makes a brief appearance at the beginning. But the plot is pretty thin. Duncan, Fitz, and Danny and a couple guides stupidly go prospecting in the late fall and get a big dose of arctic winter. And that's pretty much it (it's not completely it, but I'm not going to totally spoil what little suspense the book has). I mean, you could almost just read the blurb on the back cover and skip the book. While I don't mind a book that has a few people alone being challenged by the elements (or else I wouldn't have loved Barry Longyear's "Enemy Mine" or Ursula LeGuin's "The Left Hand of Darkness" so much), generally the people come out of the quest profoundly changed. And we see the fruits of that change. But we don't get such fruits in "White Silence." Maybe Fitz is a little sadder but wiser, but that's about it. We saw much more change to Duncan in "Scimitar" and "The Path" and "Zealot," for example, than we see in Fitz.

Rating: Summary: spellbinding Review: It is one of my favorite Highlander novels. I'm not sure if it does have historical facts but the story about Fitz and Mac is good. It seems the author is able to capture Mac's and Fitz's character personalities and write details that reflect on their relationship perfectly. Some of the quotes in this book are touching.
