The Pariah Stigma

Summary: SCI-FI or THINGS TO COME?
Review: The Pariah Stigma starts out as a fairly typical approach to an adventure in another world - but as you get into it you realize that it is actually forecasting what hard-nosed futurists are predicting for some time ahead, ie, a surviving colony in outer space. The difference lies in the motivation Selden gives his space exploration - a need for self preservation, an escape from a planet that harbors no use for humans who do not 'fit in'. what we read in the papers predicts space exploration for pure commercial purposes - but the end results are similar - humans learning to live and survive on another planet. That raise the question whether Selden's 'escapees' may not have escaped after all! Interesting contemplation.
