Rating: Summary: sword of truth Review: I just read the sword of truth series and i must say that i have thouroughly (?) enjoyed it. I do recommend all my friends, who enjoy reading fantasy, to read it. Wat more would you want? the books are easy to read while they have a complex storyline. also you can't just go and read one book out of the series and just stop. you won't understand what it's all about. and Goodkind just makes you curious of how the end will be. i think it's pretty good how the author has chosen Richard as a main character and how he lets him discover the Midlands and D'Hara. he's like an infant in that world and so are we. together with him we discover those places and people. i think you could say Goodkind (Kahlan) takes us (Richard) into this crazy world of his and shares it with us. and the way he does that is just sublime. i especially like how he has chosen the Seeker, which is an old pagan legend, as a main woven into the storyline in the first book. i'm desperately waiting for the 6th book. so mr Goodkind, if you read this: could you be so nice to all your loyal fans and hurry up?
Rating: Summary: Terry Goodkind isn't Robert Jordan, he's better Review: I must say, despite the comparisons between Goodkind and Jordan, I much prefer Goodkind. His characters are much more enjoyable to read about and it is obvious he has put a lot of time and effort into the series. There has not been a book of his yet that I have not read multiple times and absolutely loved everytime I read it. Not the case with Jordan. There is no comparison between the two and I do not feel that Goodkind has taken any of Jordan's ideas. Better to say his inspiration came from the undoubted king of epic fantasy, J.R.R. Tolkien. If you are looking for a fabulous read and a series that will keep you riveted and coming back for more then I highly recommend Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth. There are some flaws but the virtues greatly outweigh these.

Rating: Summary: i would rate these books a 10 if i could!!! Review: I picked up the first book when a friend loaned it to me mid-september, and i finished all the existing books by the end of october (around a busy class schedule), and I've been impatiently waiting for naked empire ever since then. now (april 2003), i'm starting to re-read them (more slowly this time) so they're fresh in my mind when naked empire comes out. these books are amazing, i usually don't like fantasy/sci-fi/magic, or whatever category these books fall into, but i loved them. so did my mother who usually only reads mysteries and trashy romance novels.
Rating: Summary: Sword of Truth Series Review: I read this series last year when i was in the 8th grade. I thought that the series would never be finished. It ended in the sixth book with a good idea of what would happen, but i felt the story could use an ending provided by Terry Goodkind himself. I have the utmost respect for anyone who could ever paint such a vivid and powerful story. This is one of the best stories i have read. I look forward to reading the 7th book to see how he ties the story to a conclusion. I have no doubt in my mind that the book will be bad.
Rating: Summary: Very well done series Review: I think Terry Goodkind has pulled off a very intelligent and fantastic series. I think that he has created an entire world that is so magnificent and complex that the possibilities are endless. Some say that his writing is too graphic, but I say that it is used to help explain a character and make his world that much more real. People like Drefan you are instantly repulsed by from the terrible things he does, and that is what makes his character that much more evil; that much more of a bad character. Ya know, that character that you love to hate.
Rating: Summary: Sword of Truth Series Review: I think the Sword of Truth Series is the among the best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Series of all time. I love the way Terry Goodkind jumps around different plot lines, involving many characters. In the end of each book, everything comes together in a surprising finally. If you haven't read any book in this series I have some advice for you: Start with the first book and work your way through them. You won't be able to understand what's happening because the whole series complements itself.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Series! Review: I've been a fan of fantasy for many years, but the Sword of Truth series so far surpasses any other I've read. Goodkind's talent for portraying characters in such a way that you feel you know them and their development through the plot leaves nothing wanting in the series (other than the next book that is)! And by the way, if you go to TOR's website you can see that the next book is due to come out in August, I can't wait! I highly reccomend this series.
Rating: Summary: JUST simply the best books Review: I've read all of the Sword of Truth novels and I'm only 12 I loved them sooo much I want to by my own "personal" copies if you happen to come across these books I highly reccomend them. I wish Terry Gookind would jus' hurry up with coming out with the next ones so I can stop wating around because they are "JUST simply the best books"!
Rating: Summary: A mockery of Tolkein-style Fantasy Review: If you like reading the utmost in unimaginitive, cliche, ands**ist Fantasy - this series is for you. The entire plot basicallyconsists of overused character concepts and masculine, highly graphic fantasies. There's the tall, dark, strong, and hansome woodcutter-turned-warrior main character, and his fair-haired "mage with an attitude" female sidekick. Throughout the novels the number of instances of overly contrived rape is shocking, and rather than coming across as 'depressing' - merely heads into 'disgusting'. At one point in the series an entire army, while invading a city, stops to rape every single woman in a population of over one hundered thousand, a more chauvinistic and disturbed scenario in have never encountered. Consider the logistics of, during a battle, taking every single soldier in an invading army and having them halt for five minutes and you'll see what I mean. So, for an accurate description of the novels put a plot of overwhelming cliches together with typical Fantasy stereotypes, and villains who seem to live for nothing more than to perform twisted s**ual acts on the heroes. If you like the sound of that... I highly recommend this series. Feminists (in fact, all non-s**ist people in general), fans of original fantasy, and those with a single spark of common sense - should all learn from my mistake. These books are not for you.
