Rating: Summary: Great fantasy book! Review: I can't believe I just found this author, since this book has been out for a couple of years. I always have high hopes for women fantasy writers, and this book is very impressive. Especially for a first book. It's really complex, but it's so well thought-out that you don't get the confusion you sometimes get when you're trying to read a first book in a new "world." This book has everything, but it doesn't have that 'kitchen sink' feel to it. It feels organic, like this world really exists. I felt like I was there, and that doesn't happen very often any more. So much of fantasy just feels like it's from a cookbook. Take one unpredictably moody hero, add one impossibly beautiful heroine, stir in a few comic relief characters, and send them off to battle The Greatest Evil The World Has Ever Seen. Ho hum. Not this book. The characters are multifaceted. They're selfish, even. They have their own reasons for what they do, and it's not just "To Save The World." I was disappointed that the next book wasn't out yet!

Rating: Summary: My favorite novel Review: I have read hundreds and hundreds of books (mostly fantasy) so far in my life, and I would have to say that this one is the best one I've come across. It has been my favorite book for a long time, so it's not some passing obsession. I like the whole plot line, and I can identify with several of the characters. The novel doesn't embrace a single person that the plot revolves around, and it isn't about some perfect "fairyland" where something inevitably goes wrong and turns the world upside down for a peace-loving inhabitant of that world. This is about real life. Anger, hate, love, opression, loyalty, and betrayal. The ending is unexpected, but not so much as to be completely unrelated. All in all, this novel by Laura Resnick is worth your time and more than the eight-or-so dollars you pay for it.

Rating: Summary: Pleasantly Surprised Review: I picked this book up at the grocery store in a moment of desperate boredom. I was expecting, well... I don't tend to expect much out of books I get from the grocery store in sheer desperation of something to read. Her world is wonderfully detailed and thought out. It has a number of classic fantasy elements, and lots of foreshadowing. As I read it I found I enjoyed the foreshadowing, as it seemed intentional, as opposed to being merely predictable due to bad writing. I particularly love the fact that the characters are not black and white, but all shades of gray. They don't automatically know right from wrong. Some people seem to like that tired stereotype that can be found in almost any other fantasy novel, but I personally find it boring. In conclusion, I can't wait for her to write a sequel.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Hurry up Laura with the next book! Review: I stayed up all night reading this book - once I started I couldn't put it down! Some of it is predictable, but that is to be expected. Most of it isn't predictable, and some is downright unpredictable. Good character development. Unfortunately, women (in general) are portrayed as only meant to be breeders. But there are a couple of good strong female characters. What I wish is that the book had a glossary so you could keep track of what all the foreign words meant.
Rating: Summary: EXELENT BOOK Review: I was blown away, read it twice already, I can't wait for the new one
Rating: Summary: THE BEST!!!!!!! Review: I'm soooo glad I got this book. To think I almost miss this book is apalling! It has twists that takes you by surprise and just grabs you with pair of iron strong hands. You won't be able to put it down. I would have stayed up a whole night if I didn't have practice the next day. You MUST read this. I assure you that you will LOVE this one.
Rating: Summary: Good Book Review: In Legend Born was a very good book, with captivating peoples and an interesting magic system. I enjoyed reading the book and will read the sequel, if it is ever written. (As I'm writing this review it's been two years since I read the book, with no sequel in sight). Even though I greatly enjoyed the book, I was slightly annoyed at some of the writing - it seems after every thrilling event, the characters reverted to "cheesey" jokes and banter. Still, it was a good book, with very interesting ideas behind it. I hope the sequel is written someday.
Rating: Summary: ASTONISHED Review: It has been a while since I have read this book. I am impatiently awaiting the sequel.. This book is rich with fresh ideas. The characters are very human, rather than being all good/all bad which has become too much the norm. While the details make the world realistic, it is not over done (I adore the works of J.V. Jones, but A Cavern of Black Ice could have lost 100 pages). This is one of my favorite books.
