Summary: Axler writes a nail biter
Review: I don't know what kind of spores the other reviewers have been breathing but I had a lot of fun with this one. I loved the the traveling road show idea and I loved the mountian lion. I would like to see more of him. The magus was way cool. If I had a bitch it would be that it was too short. This was another good one in a great series.

I like the way that Axler builds up to confrontations. It seems to take a long time and every page is a nail biter. The more wacked out the Deathlands get the better the read.

Summary: AXLER INFO
Review: I HAVE NOTICED THAT NO ONE HERE REALIZES THAT AXLER HASN'T WRITTEN A DEATHLANDS BOOK SINCE #15. GOLDEN EAGLE HAS SEVERAL DIFFERENT WRITERS THAT THEY USE UNDER HIS PSEUDONYM BECAUSE HE OWNS THE BY-LINE FOR THE BOOK. IF YOU CAN GET YOUR HANDS ON ANY OF THE FIRST 15 BOOKS IN THE SERIES, YOU WILL NOTICE A VERY DRASTIC DIFFERENCE IN THE WRITING STYLE AND GENERAL ATMOSPHERE THAT THE AUTHOR CREATES....THIS MAY EXPLAIN SOME THINGS TO THE READERS.....

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: worth reading
Review: If your a "Death Lands" Fan you shouldn't miss this newest release in audio. The traditional book form has been out for a while. This episode dosn't hold up to a lot of the previos books but it by no means is a slacker. The action is good and the story is still a page turner. Just a little slower going then most others.

Summary: Axler writes a nail biter
Review: This book can be documented as a lazy effort. True Deathlands content, connective flow was replaced by the use (or mention) of past characters. Trader? Come on. WHen /if he is brought back, do it in style, the real JA style. The Carny theme was OK but end it there. Why start a completely whole new and possibly exciting encounter like the fungus, just to have one member of the team turn a valve and save everyone. Had I not finished the book it would have been better. Time is limited at my household so I try to choose wisely what I read. This time I choose poorly. Will I read the next one? Of course, doubt it can get any worse.
But this one deserves a 1.0. JA, hope your're reading this...

Summary: DAMNATION ROAD SHOW HITS THE BIG TOP!!
Review: This newest installment of the legendary Deathlands finally hits a much-needed homerun in the series.
This particular writer hits all the right marks in making this feel like the old Deathlands of yesteryear. The carny freakshow was greatly written with the bad guys, (or coldhearts, if you're a hardcore fan), take center stage in this storyline.
The Magus and his 2nd-in-command man are so interesting to read, that I really didn't mind that Ryan took somewhat of a backseat in this wild ride yarn.
If you like your science fiction fast-paced and steeped in the strange and bizaar - then this one's for you!
This one finally brought back the Deathlands to the level it so much deserves. A must read for fans, as well as newbies alike.

Summary: What the ****?
Review: This story makes absolutly no sense. The author is trying for science fiction instead of just action but ends up with a horrible mess. The total insanity includes
1. A giant mutant mountain lion who can communicate telopathicely with a member of the party, tortures his victims so that he can prove he is alive, and has either lived through everthing that is happening or a precog.
2. A prenuclear war experiment that involves hallucinagenic snow, mind controlling fish(or a lake it is never really explained) and a symbiotic fungi.
3. Very limited action, one running gun battle and a fight between Doc Tanner(the most infirm of the group) and the secondary bad guy.

Summary: Deathlands: Damnation Road Show
Review: While reading Damnation Road Show, I found myself seriously considering the possibility that the Deathlands series is either being written by someone other than Axler, or he has undergone a serious change in the style of his writing. Damnation Road Show, while the story itself was very entertaining, the characters seemed a bit off. J.B. didn't seem stoic enough, Ryan not terse enough, Mildred lost her sarcastic edge, Jak's dialogue wasn't his usual one-to-two word responses, and Doc's usual eloquence was no where in evidence. Dean, a rapidly maturing young man in previous novels, regressed into a rather normal 12 year old, his steely edge gone. In Amazon's Gate (the previous novel), I first suspected that the series was being taken over by others, and Damnation Road Show confirms my suspicions. Since the whole Deathlands series is centered around the relationships between the core characters, the adventure itself coming in second, this change has seriously affected the entertainment value of this book, giving it a rather cartoonish quality.
