Summary: Plan to settle in
Review: This is a very absorbing, fast paced book. The many charactors in the book could have a series all their own. The rest of the series is just as good. You should try to read them all at once, as it is easy to get lost if you don't. There is another book due out by Maggie in March of 2000, called The Heart of Myrial.

Summary: An enthralling read.
Review: A great story line with realistic characters. Miathan the greedy tempermental archmage plots to destroy a young mage who has a passion for adventure. I highly recommend this book to others.

Summary: For those who are interested in this book
Review: I must say when I read Aurian I was a little unsure it was going to be good. In fact I was surprised that although it is not the best book I have ever read it's a good book when you have spare time. Even so, my friend's and I all agree that some of the other characters are cooler than Aurian like Shia, Anvar, and Zana. If you like fanasty or anything that provesd to be an interseting read, get Aurian, you won't be disappointed (a word from the wise, make sure you get the sequel too, Ms. Furey loves to give cliff-hanger endings)

Summary: A wonderful, exciting fantasy which I just couldn't put down
Review: We really, really enjoyed this book. The characters were very realistic, and we can feel the characters' joys and pain as though they were real. A wonderful and enjoyable read, and we couldn't wait to read the next books!!! All the people that we have recommended it to have loved it, and we think that any fantasy-lover should definately read it!!!!

Summary: Unreadable
Review: I could not make it past page 82 of this fantasy. I remained unmoved by the plight of the little girl in the snowstorm and uninterested in her "animal friends". I didn't feel the loyal swordsman's grief as he left his young friend, or his urgency in rushing back to save her life. When the evil mages plotted, all I could think of was Saturday morning cartoons.... and even the dying grampa left my heart-strings un-plucked. Alas, have I grown so heartless that genuine human emotions mean nothing? No, wait... I think it's the book.

Summary: Great start, but the apologizing grates on your nerves!
Review: Okay, so I liked the book at first. It drew me in quickly, and I was able to get used to yet another world's "rules and regulation" (mages are kinda sorta immortal, magic is something that mages store up and deplete, and so on). And it was going pretty well, with the first half of the book about inter-character relationships, and the second half being a journey-type story. But toward the end, I swear, the two main characters are spending more time apologizing to each other than anything else! The amount of time that they spend worrying about having hurt each other's feelings made me wonder if the author has some personal emotional demons that she was trying to deal with through her writing. Toward the very end (I decided to finish it to see if it redeemed itself), I read every other page, just to be able to stomach all of the namby-pamby bull. What a letdown!

Summary: Okay book, standard fantasy story
Review: It was a fast-paced book, which made up for the lack of depth of the characters and their development. I didn't like the way all the females in the book seemed overly macho (Aurian is always swearing and drinking beer, taking "girl power" a little too far). Pretty obvious throughout what was going to happen, nice read, not amazingly exciting. Good front cover.

Summary: Excellent first novel
Review: Engaging story line and a well-developed fantasy world. Thought the characters were a little simplistic, from "black to white" without any intervening shades of gray, emotionally-speaking (e.g. Shia, from "I hate all humans" to fetching Aurian's sword for her in the space of, what, 10 minutes?) but the book is well worth reading and I've already ordered the sequel...

Summary: The Heart of Fantasy
Review: Wandering in a bookstore, the cover of Aurian caught my eye.Reading it, it really captivated me and I have now read it several times.Just locating the rest of the saga, I am definently looking forward to the rest. Just one flaw though, the end Anvar just was..well...changed diffrently in a way I didnt take to.
